This Year's Model Updates:

The Pontiac G6 sees a host of changes for the 2006 model year. Starting things off are two new body styles: a two-door coupe and a hardtop convertible. The coupe will be available at the beginning of the model year, while the convertible hits dealer showrooms early in the 2006 calendar year. There are also new trim levels. A four-cylinder base sedan caters to those shoppers on a tighter budget, while a GTP trim increases the G6's performance threshold via the addition of a new 240-hp V6, stability control and an available six-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Huge rear seat, fuel-efficient V6 engines offer ample low-end pull, sporty suspension tuning, power hardtop in convertible model, panoramic sunroof in sedan.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, numb electric steering, panoramic sunroof eats up rear-seat headroom.

  • Awesome Auto - 2006 Pontiac G6

I recently purchased the G6 GT Coupe and I must say I am extremely impressed. Other than an interior that could use a little "upgrade", the car is awesome. Performance wise you could not ask for more. I also own a Mazda 6 and a BMW 323 CI and I must say I am much more impressd with the G6. Kudos to Pontiac.

I purchased my 2006 Pontiac G6 with less than 400 miles in March, 2006. This car has been my daily driver for the last 7 years. I have put over 197,000 miles on this vehicle. Of course, I have had regular routine work such as brakes and rotors. Have had a wheel bearing replaced. Very pleased with this car. Just wish it was bigger now that I have children.

  • Main problem: Passenger side head light - 2006 Pontiac G6

Ive owned my 2006 G6 sedan for two years. Drove my long commute to and from work each day reliably and comfortably. Main problem with these cars is the passenger side headlight. GM used a sub quality harness which plugs the headlight assembly into the main harness. It overheats and melts (if yours hasnt yet, it will) Best thing to do is bypass the plug wiring in your own spade connectors. Headlight ground went on it too, had to wire my own. Wish there was a recall on this. Sometimes I get a check engine light which is accompanied by hard shifts. It clears up on its own. Drivers door seal leaks water. Other than that, just brakes and normal ware items. Overall car is very reliable.

This car is great! I sell Pontiacs and this is something that is an easy sell. The car rides like a dream with comfortable seats and awesome power. I love the look. I smile every time I get out of it.

  • Wouldnt suggest - 2006 Pontiac G6

Ive had more problems with this car in two years than any other vehicle Ive owned. It has left me stranded on the highway twice. Do not like the 17" low profile tires that cost more to replace than my truck tires do. With only 24,000 miles Ive spent over $2500 keeping this car on the road. Its comfortable and roomy but that is all that this car has going for it. Its not the economy making GM go under. Its GMs inferior products. Im looking at trading it in before it leaves me stranded once again.

I love this car! Its as if this car were designed just for me. It is super fun to drive. Mileage is great. Style is awesome. Engine is powerful. Very quiet and smooth in every day driving. Very comfortable and roomy too.

I too have replaced the rotor and brakes on my car. I cannot believe I have spent so much money on this car. My air compressor went out and I lost control of my car. I am so frustrated with this car. I cannot wait to get rid of it. I havent purchased anything but GMC. I have always been loyal but now I question where is their loyalty? I am out money.

My mother bought this car in 2008 I believe, and gave it to me about 2 years ago for better mpg. It was perfectly fine never had a problem. Then everything started to go wrong. The passenger headlight went out, the CD player stopped ejecting the CDs, the brakes squeak no matter what, Ive already tried to fix it multiple times, and my power steering just recently went out almost caused me to wreck, scared the living daylights out of me. I didnt even have all these problems with my 87 IROC.

  • Fun in the Sun, not in the winter - 2006 Pontiac G6

Th car has a smooth power band, good in the snow, fair MPG (18-20city 24-26 hwy) nice extra features like in dash cd changer/auto lights, onstar... Inside has a cheap plastic look and feel. Hard to see out some winodws do to huge A and C pillers(sides of front & rear glass). Cup holders in very bad location when trying to shift into 2/4. COLDER areas beware, in the winter do to the way the windows are designed in the winter the snow/frost can freeze the window in the UP position, not allowing door to close without running a credit card along the seal first, window may break if you try and close in the UP position!! impossible to swap out radio for aftermarket

Sleek exterior design. The car looks as well as it performs. Acceleration is brisk, performance and ride quality is outstanding. The interior was designed for comfort and convenience to instruments and controls. A pleasure to drive and an excellent compromise between a sporty hi-performance car and and a unit with consideration to fuel efficiency.
