This Year's Model Updates:

The Pontiac G6 sees a host of changes for the 2006 model year. Starting things off are two new body styles: a two-door coupe and a hardtop convertible. The coupe will be available at the beginning of the model year, while the convertible hits dealer showrooms early in the 2006 calendar year. There are also new trim levels. A four-cylinder base sedan caters to those shoppers on a tighter budget, while a GTP trim increases the G6's performance threshold via the addition of a new 240-hp V6, stability control and an available six-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Huge rear seat, fuel-efficient V6 engines offer ample low-end pull, sporty suspension tuning, power hardtop in convertible model, panoramic sunroof in sedan.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, numb electric steering, panoramic sunroof eats up rear-seat headroom.

  • Nothing better in this price range!!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

I did a ton of research for a new car in the $20-$22K range and I can honestly say that youre not going to get a better car for the money, nor one that looks, feels, or drives better. When you opt for the premium upgrade package that includes the 17" chrome wheels, 6 cd changer, and sunroof, this car is gorgeous!! The 3.5L V6 has more than enough power for city driving and highways and the comfort for driver and passenger is amazing VERY roomy. The most amazing thing about this car (especially in black) is the way it looks at night!!! With all laser red dash and gauge lights it doesnt get much sexier than this. I would highly reccomend this car to anyone looking for the best around 22K.

  • Nothing but problems!!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

My biggest mistake in life so far has been purchasing this vehicle. NO JOKE. So far Ive had nothing but problem after problem with this horrible car. The engine is great. I love the power, the steering, the design of the body. But when you get past all that and everything just seems to fall apart starting the 2nd day after you bought it, you get a little upset. Let me just tell you a couple of the problems ive had.........sunroof doesnt work (took it in 4 times and still nothing), sunroof and side pillars leak when it rains (causing carpet and seats to grow mold),......ABS,traction control, and airbags stopped working. car shakes when braking, rotors and brake pads replaced.

  • Very Dissappointed in this car! - 2006 Pontiac G6

This car is a piece of junk! The steering rack has broken twice, the passenger window slams down when you do the auto down, now the check engine light is on and I get this message check gas cap. One time my gas cap was off completely. I wish I had never got this thing. And god knows how many more problems we are going to have Im nervous I dont have the money to replace all the crap that is going wrong with this. This car must be made in China, and the driver side seat heater is broken for some reason. Im disappointed.

  • GREAT car!!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

Wonderful looks, comfort, performance, gas mileage. Everyone looks at it when I drive it.

  • review and corrections - 2006 Pontiac G6

Nice car. Rather heavy, but that doesnt seem to bother the 3.9 engine. O correction to the reviewer who listed horror when the vehicle continued to crank after the key was let go because the system incorporates an electronic monitoring of the cranking system. It is designed to continue cranking after the key is let go until either 10 seconds elapses or the engine starts. Overall, the car has had a few major issues. Front Brakes continue to warp despite 4 rotor replacements and new pads. Radiator Leakage Steering column (popping) (known issue) Smaller issues are: radio keeping flipping between radio and CD on its own (usually when the radio signal call sign has a * next to it

  • Fun to Drive the Pontiac G6 - 2006 Pontiac G6

This car is fun to drive, the instrament panel is great and easy to see and use.The power train is very nice, I feel it is powered with the proper size engine for the size of the vehicle, great pick up and passing. The transmission is very smooth. I find the interior compartment of the car is great. Only thing that is hard to get used to is getting into the drivers seat, as I have driven full size vehicles and SUVs for the last 15 years, and therefore its taking a while to get used to dropping into the car. The back seat is very comfortable and alot of leg room, also the front seat is nice. I have a friend that is 65" tall and he says both the front and back are very comfortable for him.

  • Beautiful but dangerous - 2006 Pontiac G6

I owned my 2005 G6 for 5 days. I purchased it from a local dealership as a GM Certified Vehicle.Unknowing to me, it had an open recall on it. It was a beautiful car, inside and out. It got great gas mileage and was a very affordable family functional vehicle. My problem is with the Steering. My family (all 4 of us) were on our way to my daughters school on Tuesday morning. The steering went out completely in a curve when we were going 50 mph. We spun through 2 lanes of traffic, flipped 4 times and landed upside down in a ditch. I dont know what component is at fault but I do know it was not driver error and I would not purchase another even though they are gorgeous.

  • G6 GTP 3.9L Coupe 2006 - 2006 Pontiac G6
    By -

I ordered the car to my prefrences and received it July 15th 05. The handling is superb! Has plenty of power with the 3.9L engine. I have all the up-grades which Im very glad I chose. The ride is a little hard but the performance makes up for it. Im hoping for a little better gas mileage. Right now I get 20.5 per gal. The style of the car turns heads all the time. There is not much room for passengers in the rear, but thats not a concern of mine. This is a 1 person car for me. I put 50,000 miles a year on a car and need a dependable one. Ive found this in Pontiac.

The car is well built. The GPT model has hydraulic power steering, and has good response. The back seats are serviceable, but you really dont want to put your best friends in them for a long period of time.

The Pontiac g6 sedan is just plain amazing, i have many other vehicles and many convertables, but no car that i own is as fun as this. Its sleek, affordable, quiet and all around great car to own, the moment i saw it in the showrooom i fell in love, it has great options like a panoramic sunroof and heated seats, i love my new pontiac g6.
