This Year's Model Updates:

The Pontiac G6 sees a host of changes for the 2006 model year. Starting things off are two new body styles: a two-door coupe and a hardtop convertible. The coupe will be available at the beginning of the model year, while the convertible hits dealer showrooms early in the 2006 calendar year. There are also new trim levels. A four-cylinder base sedan caters to those shoppers on a tighter budget, while a GTP trim increases the G6's performance threshold via the addition of a new 240-hp V6, stability control and an available six-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Huge rear seat, fuel-efficient V6 engines offer ample low-end pull, sporty suspension tuning, power hardtop in convertible model, panoramic sunroof in sedan.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, numb electric steering, panoramic sunroof eats up rear-seat headroom.

  • Love this GTP - 2006 Pontiac G6

Have had this car 2.5 years, ordered it to my tastes and I love it. Have not had a days worth of trouble. Love the 6 speed manual, it really goes. Decent in the snow. The heated seats are awesome in the winter. Cavernous room for my two teenage boys in the back seats and all my friends think this car looks hot. Maybe because it`s in my favorite flavor-red. Sound system is sweet, tho it could use some automatic sound leveling and a mute button, but why be picky. I am deploying to Iraq next summer and I am thinking I may sell it and get a new one, but I love the 6 speed manual that isn`t made anymore, not sure I can bring myself to let it go. Might let the wife go before the car.

  • G6 a winner - 2006 Pontiac G6

I have nothing but great things to say about this car. It gets reasonable gas mileage for a car its size (24/31). It is very comfortable on long drives, rides extremely well, is deceptively roomy and has lots of storage (trunk) space.

  • 4 months and lovin it!!!!! - 2006 Pontiac G6

4 months, 6500 miles and loving it all the more. I purchased and Electric Blue GT coupe loaded except for Onstar, replacing a 2001 PT crusier. Guess I go for the "different" look in my cars. Love it love it love it! Fun to drive, hence the high milage. I am averaging 28.9 combo driving with the auto. Very impressed with that. The most out of my PT Cruiser was 23.5 for an auto. Many comments about the remote start for the winter which will come in handy here in Massachuetts as well, but works just as well in the heat of the summer. I leave the AC on when shutting down the car and remote start to cool as well.! First oil change at 6388 at 10% oil life left.

I have driven many different cars in my life and none have compared to the G6! Its amazing. I did my research before I committed and talked directly with other G6 owners. This car has received rave reviews from everyone and now I am a believer. You must TRY it....you wont regret it!

Ive had my G6 Coupe for about 4 months now and Im very happy with it. Good mileage out on the highway without compromising performance. A nice ride although a bit low to the ground. Ive had lots of positive comments and Id lease another G6 anytime.

  • The Fantastic G6 - 2006 Pontiac G6

When I purchased my 06 Pontiac G6 with the Ecotec 2.4L, I thought I was settling for something less than I was use to. This is far from the case. I have found the 2.4 to quick off the line, and easily gets out of its own way on the highway. I do miss not having ABS or traction....my error when buying the G6. I love the handling, but found the stock tires to be too weak on the curves. Replaced them with Goodyear Assurance (Eagle- Like)....which handle the curves perfectly, and matches the great G6 suspension. Only criticism is the interior switchgear could be higher quality. Very happy with my decision.

  • Great Car - 2006 Pontiac G6

I recently purchased my GTP and have put a ton a miles on it. It has been very reliable and a TRILL to drive. It hugs curves extremely well and can get to 100 mph in a flash. I test drove many cars in the GTP price range and this was by far the best. I would recommend this car to anyone.

  • Plan on Spending Time in the Shop - 2006 Pontiac G6

Shortly after purchasing this vehicle 20k miles I noticed a spring sound coming from the front passenger wheel. Turned out to be a strut problem. 30k miles replaced the drivers side strut and then had to replace the entire front suspension. Now at 52k it is doing it all again. The interior door molding is pulling away from the door. Now I also think the the bearings are bad in the front passenger wheel because the tire sounds like an airplane engine taking off and landing as I reduce speed. This vehicle has been nothing but problems and would not recommend a G6 or any other GM product to anyone that I valued as a friend. Ive replaced my rotors at least 6 times as well.

I really give the car a lot of credit. My wife runs the hell out of that thing and I just maintain it with the standard maintenance items that I normally do. Oil change, filter, air filter, check tire pressure. Have not checked plugs yet. More than likely they are fine. I believe there are iridium in there and there is not enough miles on it to worry about it. The only thing I get a little scared about is the car likes to continue to try to start after you turn the key to the starting position. Really bizarre. I personally dont like the rear window pillars. I cannot see anything when I go to switch lanes. So take your time switching lanes. ake sure it is clear.

  • Excellent car - 2006 Pontiac G6

The 2006 Pontiac G6 GT is an excellent car. I have had mine for 11 months, and have had absolutely no problems. Gets good mileage for a mid-sized sedan. It is also a really fun car to drive.
