Olds Silhouette GLS (1999) - 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By DEG - October 16 - 10:00 amVehicle include trailer towing package that provides additional engine and transmission cooling. It is very comfortable on long trips (12 hours) because of the leather seat with lumbar control. Trip back to the shop were primarily for electrical malfunctions (locks, power sliding door, etc.). Only back to the shop 2 times in 3 years. Load leveling very useful on trips with the family with a full load of luggage and people. Engine performed well with 5 people and luggage traveling 800 miles in one day. Also traveled 500 miles before filling tank again. Good gas mileage.

Trans probs - 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By manny - October 16 - 10:00 amThis van drives great when its not in the shop.If you want a reliable van dont get a GM.In the shop twice for weeks at a time for trans probs with only 29000 miles.

Lovin my Olds! - 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette

We bought this vehicle used and we didnt know all the neat extras it had until we got it home, we were just looking for a nice minivan, but got so much more. Has a great 6-track cd player, electronic sliding doors,(with many different locations inside the car from which to open them), really nice to have when you are carrying baby seats and groceries etc. Van is nice and roomy, for real people, not just kids. Overall a great choice for anyone wanting lots of room and luxury.

By Ny oldsie - September 22 - 11:33 pmThe Oldsmobile Silhouette is a well thought out example of what America makes best! This van has a low cost to maintain. I recommend changing the dex-coolant every 3 years or 75,000 miles whichever comes first and remember to include the anti-leak tablets as per factory specifications! This vehicle will reward you with years of trouble free driving! Who says they dont make em like they used to! PS...I am still on the original Delco battery after six years of ownership!

The Service Department is on My Speedial - 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By HEF - September 3 - 2:00 amWhen shopping for a minivan, the Oldsmobile had the "right stuff". All of the amenities were there in nicely presented package. All would be utopic if not usurped by continual visits to the dealer for repairs. I treat this vehicle gingerly and still am plagued with numberous and unnessecary repairs, i.e...new engine head, windshield, tranny work, 4 cd players, rear passenger climate controls, rear suspension, intake manifold, brakes, electrical, continual squeaks and rattles. All of the aforementioned problems have been addressed more than once. Oh yes, the driver leather seat is wearing rapidly...Im not a large or heavy person. If there were no problems, this would be an ideal vehicle!

A few problems, but overall good car - 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By Susan - August 24 - 11:53 pmWe had this car for nearly 4 years and just traded it in yesterday. Had a few problems along the way... A/C went out 20,00 miles after the expiration of the 60,000 mile warranty ($850 repair), intermittent problems with the power door not working, and for a while, the horn would sound when it was raining without being bumped or anything! They never figured out why but after some inkering with the electrical system by the deal service department, the problem seemed to have resolved. The front cupholder was rather flimsily designed and came out a few times (causing quite a mess!)

Used Silhouette - 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By stacyo330 - August 24 - 5:00 pmI bought this minivan with 59,600 miles on it. It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I was impressed with the thoughtful ergonomics and comfortable seating and vantage point. My wife and I test drove a Chrysler Town & Country and both felt we had a better command of the road visually in the Silhouette. It also didnt rock side to side as much as the T&C. I have the premier gold edition, its like my Dads Cadillac Deville in a minivan. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. The storage is awesome, power side doors, auxillary air inflator are you kidding me! GM should have tossed out Pontiac first, and kept making this gem.

Ready to buy a 2004 - 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette
By Bones - August 11 - 2:00 amEasy to drive. My wife drives it as much as I do. Great for traveling with four back seats removed (I am retired). Wish we had the dual air/heat system. We live in the northeast and cold air comes in around the front doors where the latches are. My wife actually covers her arms with a blanket on cold days.
