  • Good, until... - 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

I bought this car with 36,000 miles 7 years ago and it lasted 100,000 miles. Its got its share of minor issues, like all windows had to have the regulator replaced as well as the crankshaft sensor, which seem to be the par for the course. The interior was a victim of its poor quality in materials and design early on, like the dash lip above the central vents raising and the shifter and door switches getting loose. The leather seats were only thinly upholstered and the drivers seat shows more use. The exterior, other than supplier-painted parts, held up fairly well. Since it was involved in an accident which damaged its front-end, it developed recurring cooling issues, unfortunately.

  • Good Car to have - 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I have been driving Nissans, and Toyotas for last 12 years, after having poor experience with North American Cars. However, after reading some great reviews and with the incentives given by GM in 2002, I decided to take the plunge. I donot regret it at all, it handles and rides extremely well, very quiet, and very thrifty on gas. The car also has adequate power for any traffic conditions. The only problem I had with this vehicle, was that there was slight water leak into the trunk when the car went through a car wash. The problem was corrected by tightening the mounting screws for the License Plate light fixture.

  • Fabulous car! - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Best car we have ever had! Plenty of interior room, plenty of power, ultra smooth ride.

  • Exceeded my expectations - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

At 120,000 miles, this car has exceeded my expectations. Its comfortable, smooth, and versatile. I have had very few problems (brakes and alternators). I drive mainly the highway and the car has always been smooth and quiet. I am surprised at how pleased the 1998 owners are vs. the 2001 owners. Why? Seems like 1998 owners should be experiencing more problems, but they reviews do not reflect that.

I have driven my Oldsmobile Intrigue to many different states. It has a very comfortable ride and handles very well. It also has good acceleration and gets good gas mileage - I get around 24 mpg even after having it for 6 years. I have had very few problems with it.

  • Nice, but lots of repairs - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

At 18,000 miles my Oldsmobile Intrigues head gasket blew. At 22,000 the brake rotors warped, At 24,000 the steering pinion geer failed, at 28,000 the brake pump failed, at 48,000 the transmission torque converter broke, at 62,000 I had the brake rotors replaced, at 70,000 the fan belt tension bracket broke off, at 98,000 the transmission pcm valve failed, just to name a few problems. Also, the radio knobs fell off. Factory tires were junk, too. But the drive is nice.

  • Why discontinue the Intrigue? - 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

When I test drove the car, I was surprised at the Intriguess engine responsiveness and smoothness, its nimble handling, and its useful space. I have owned many Oldsmobiles and the Intrigue is the best-balanced Oldsmobile that I have driven. The Intrigue handles as well if not better than many compact performance cars. Dont just look at the car. Test drive it! I was surprised. You may be too.

  • Nice car, sorry to see Olds stop product - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

My wife and I bought the car new in Oct 98 and have 61000 miles on it. I am sorry to see them no longer making Oldsmobile. I never wanted an Oldsmobile product because they were always so old looking (elderly peeps car). The intrigue has been great for us and we are a family of four. We have had the car 5 years with no problems but standard maintenance. The dash heats up if you drive a lot at night from the lighting but other than that no problems at all.

  • Intrigued - no longer - 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue
    By -

The 3.5 twin cam engine is the best feature of the car. The transmission, at 75000 miles, is becoming "unsure of itself". Fit and finish are not good. Interior layout is OK. Service reliability has been subpar for a car that lists for over 26 grand. Fog lights are ridiculous - lousy design - bulbs dont last and cost a fortune at 10-14 dollars each. The assemblies fill up with water and list for 113 dollars each. The headlight assys are little better as the lenses fog over (crazing) and condensation always forms inside the light assemblies. Im afraid to even inquire the price. Ill go Japanese next time.
