  Glad 2 B Rid of It - 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

  I purchased a GX with just over 35,000 miles. Ive had it for a year and 33,000 miles. The transmission has had to be replaced...it uses a quart of oil every 1500 miles that GM says is not excessive...and its losing break fluid. The car rides, drives, and accerlates wonderfully...it would be a great car if it were more reliable. Ive traded it in on a 2000 Accord LX-V6 even though I had -$5000 equity. And GM wonders why they continue to lose market share?

  Ive had this car eight years now, and Id swear it still drives like it did when we bought it. Handling is sharp and precise, the 3.5 L engine is serious fun to drive. It still gets 28 mpg on the highway. I am still smile every time I get into it and I think that says a lot. Its just too bad GM killed this car & engine. Ive had one problem with it; the crank shaft position sensor went out around 60,000 miles, I replaced it for $125, everything else has been regular maintenance. What has made an impression on me, it has been in the body shop a couple times, the men that worked on it mentioned how well this car was built. I plan to drive it until it hits 200K.

  With all the features I got for a decent price from the previous owner, I would say that value-wise, this car is great, but its definitely starting to lose its steam. Its only got 144K miles on it, but it acts like its got many more, even though its got the original hardy engine that performs well. Maybe its just because its over ten years old and I never saw it in its heydey, or maybe I picked the wrong one, but I just cant seem to fall in love with this car. It is decent for the most part.

  This car has 44,000 miles and no problems. Handles like an import and looks great.

  I have a 99 GLS with the 3.5L V6. It handles well, and jumps from 55 to 85 very (too) easily. My biggest complaint is quality of the components. Ive had nagging minor problems (door trim, uneven fit in interior), more serious mechanical defects (warping brake rotors, crank shaft sensor), and major mechanical breakdowns (power steering went out, rack replaced 3 times). Without those issues, Id love the car.

  After 8 months and 12,000 miles of ownership, I would still have a difficult time finding a comparable replacement for the Intrigue. Great looks, responsive handling, well equipped, and a 5 yeay/60K warranty; what else would you want in a midsize sedan?

  Loved it, despite problems late in life - 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

  Bought new 2/98. Great car for the first 8 yrs or so. Fun to drive, good fuel economy, good ergonomics, comfortable. It always (from around age 2+) had a minor, but irritating, oil leak that no one ever seemed able to find or fix. Otherwise, experienced only the usual and expected wear-related maintenance issues until about age 9, when several major problems cropped up (cracked intake manifold, mainly), and along with expected maintenance items consistent with that age/mileage just became too much to justify on a car with 121K miles. Finally traded it off 8/2008, but with a lot of sadness. It really was a good car overall, and I was very sorry to see it go.

  I bought my Intrigue in 2003 off lease with 60000Km (36000 mi) it now has 306,000 km and still running great. Everything still works power windows, sun roof, heated seats, power seat and leather seats still good. Rebuilt transmission last year which only cost me $2200, fuel sensor problem is caused by additive in certain gas. Use Shell and you will never have an issue. Replaced flywheel about 5 years ago with a used one. Lots of available used parts from wrecking yards which keep the cost of repair down because GM does not product a lot of parts for the Olds anymore. Northstar engine is still very strong, no rust although I do undercoat it annually.

  never a problem with over 120k just general fluid changes and light maintenance. Who says general motors cantt build. The ride and quality of the oldsmobile intrigue rivals the japan and european sedans. The oldsmobile intrigue one really good car.I have owned the rivals too.

  Intrigues are the worst cars ever BUILT - 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

  From a mechanic stand point, something is always wrong with these cars intrigues they are constantly braking down, and in need of repairs. Not minor repairs either, things like, front rods, transmisson work, bad rotors and brakes, rack and pinion, and catilictic converter,badly spelled, but you should know the part, and also o2 censes. Oldsmobile intrigues have a great deal of mechanical problems, and in my opinion they are badly built cars.
