  • If you see one for sale....run!!! - 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada

This is our second Bravado. We thought the first one (98) was a fluke with all the troubles we had. No such luck. The 00 Bravada Platinum is the biggest peice of crap ever! Everything seems to go to hell after 50,000 miles. The front end has been completely rebuilt now, and were being told the transmission may have problems. Junk, pure and simple.

  • Never buy a discontinued brand! - 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada

Bought this car with 80,000 miles. Needed a car that was not so low to the ground because of my back. Wish I would have bought an old 9 Taurus. This car has fallen apart on me, the transfer case got a hole blown in it. So now its going to cost me $1700 dollars to replace, not including labor. I cant drive it because the drive shaft is laying in my garage and now I have no car because Im on a fixed income. I will never buy a discontinued brand again. The devil in mechanical form!

  • Never Again - 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada

I was really excited about purchasing my Platinum Edition Oldsmobile Bravada until I started having problems with it. At 36,000 miles my transmission, rear wiper motor and A/C system all went (glad I bought the extended warranty). Since then, I have replaced the brakes twice, redone the front end, and keep getting water in my transfer case (car has been in the shop at least six times for this alone). I never drive in water and they cant figure out what the problem is. Also, it has lots of rattles. My ignition shorted twice as did my radio. My transmission is going again and the roof rack paint is peeling. The jack they provided could not hold the vehicle weight. Oldsmobile refused to replace a $50 jack free of charge. I would never purchase an Oldsmobile again.

  • This truck sucks - 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada

The transmission went out the first year we owned it. Everytime we take this vehicle in for servicing it is $500 plus! It never has run right and the dealer seems to have no clue re how to fix it. It only has a little over 60k miles and weve replaced the alternator, A/C compressor, transfer case, etc. The air bag light never goes off (indicating a malfunction that nobody can seem to find), speakers go off for no known reason. I dont know how well ever get rid of this POS unless we find someone who will push it off the side a cliff and we can collect some insurance $. We wouldnt have another GM product if given to us.

Definitely purchase an extended warranty if you get this car(luckily I did)! At 66,000 miles, I have made over $7,000 in repairs. The SmartTrak 4WD first didnt engage when needed, then always engaged. I also had the crankcase replaced, U joints, electrical problems, body problems (door hinges all became loose!) My 2002 Dodge Neon did much better in light snow that this! Never risk this purchase.

Back again, To all of you that wrote those glowing reviews, I salute you and your luck. I do believe you are living in denial, however but that is my opinion. I have to tell the truth, yes, it is a beautiful car with luxury appointments etc and was wonderful for the two weeks that I didn;t have to work on it. It shines like a new penny, the leather is soft, but if it sits in your drive looking pretty, it is like a trophy wife who chooses to sleep on the couch. As I type, I have spent another night tracing ground faults, bad parts, and now suspect the keyremote unit for some of this. I already had it to the eletrician for a week and $500, who fixed only the low voltage standard for the engine

  • GARBAGE - 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

Leased in 99 went way over miles. Rotors defective from the factory at 39,000/ water pump at 60,000/ transmission at 65,000/ battery at 2+ years. Amazingly nothing was warrantied when it went. All wheel drive chatters on corners and reverse and is underpowered.

  • Run Away - 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada
    By -

The only redeeming factor of my Bravada ownership was that I paid $700 for it and was able to use it during one harsh winter season. At the tail end of January, however, all of that ended for this vehicle. 123,000 miles. What a nightmare. Engine knock. Had it looked at, said it was the belts but didnt need to be replaced immediately. It also shut off sometimes while in reverse. One frosty January night the vehicle quit accelerating and wouldnt turn back on. I coasted it to a parking lot and had it towed. Flywheel broke off and damaged internal parts. Ruined the transmission. Now the vehicle will start but will not shift. Keys get stuck in ignition. Engine grinds like a lawnmower.

  • Looks nice, but not a reliable ride - 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada

Weve had nothing but bad luck with this vehicle. We purchased with only 12K miles and in the next 45K miles weve had a rebuilt transmission, a new transmission, a new radiator, a new water pump, a new alternator, problems with the fuel guage, etc. This vehicle still has less than 70K miles and weve had all these problems. Ive lost any hope that US automakers can build a quality product.
