owned four years and have only replaced a battery (under warranty.) routine service at Vacaville CA dealership has been excellent and at nominal cost. Olds has seemed to really value its customers. The Bravada looks as good as when it came off the showroom. Mechanically sound, good performance in all weather inc snow. Ride is very good for a truck and is quiet. Tows well to about 4500 lbs. Would highly recommend.

  • Run Away - 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada

The only redeeming factor of my Bravada ownership was that I paid $700 for it and was able to use it during one harsh winter season. At the tail end of January, however, all of that ended for this vehicle. 123,000 miles. What a nightmare. Engine knock. Had it looked at, said it was the belts but didnt need to be replaced immediately. It also shut off sometimes while in reverse. One frosty January night the vehicle quit accelerating and wouldnt turn back on. I coasted it to a parking lot and had it towed. Flywheel broke off and damaged internal parts. Ruined the transmission. Now the vehicle will start but will not shift. Keys get stuck in ignition. Engine grinds like a lawnmower.

  • Great Ride! - 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada

Bought used with all the options. I travel often and this vehicle is very forgiving to my back; due somewhat to the lumbar adjustements. This is my 4th SUV and by far the best. All have been American made, however, I think the Bravada has a European flare to it.

  • DO NOT BUY!!!! - 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

I got this vehicle used with 105,000 miles on it because I needed a vehicle that was AWD or 4WD. The first time I drove it in bad weather the AWD Smarttrack system wouldnt work so the vehicle was basically a RWD vehicle. About 3 weeks later I went out to start the vehicle and the vehicle was dead and I had to have it toed to a garage and fixed. I have only had this vehicle for about 1,500 miles and have already had 2 major problems with it. I would not suggest buying this vehicle, you will put way to much money into it and not get much out of it. Spend the extra money and buy a Honda, Ford, or Toyota that will last you forever.

  • Short of being perfect - 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada

We have enjoyed our Bravada excepted for a recurring transmission slippage that gives you the sensation to go over a bumpy road as the vehicle starts to accelerate. There is also a loud metallic noise that I have not been able to find the origin. It sounds like a loose hatch door, or loose braking caliper or an heavy piece of metal rattling when on bumpy road.

Our new Bravada is very comfortable and fun to drive. We are still learning what all the different buttons are for and how to operate the On Star properly, but this should be old hat to us soon. We liked the smooth styling of the Bravada better than the Trail Blazer or the Envoy (sister makes) as well as the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. I would recommend this SUV to anyone.

I bought my 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada off-lease with an extended warranty. I made out like a bandit - with the warranty. the warranty company is not happy. The only items that I have NOT had replaced, at 80,000 miles, are the main engine and transmission. Everything else has broken...and its had two women drivers and no off-road abuse during its life. I wish Id bought it new, I would have turned it in under the Lemon Law.

  • Little Trouble Up Front - 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

I have had a little trouble with the Bravada, but overall its been a nice ride and has taken me from Kentucky to Alaska and back. I had to replace the ball joints and both front wheel bearings about 5,000 miles ago and now am having the same problems that led me to replace them in the first place (a bumping sort of motion when cutting the wheels and backing up). I read a lot about the GMC Jimmy (nearly the same build) having this problem regularly as well. The engine runs strong, has lots of torque, and its gas mileage is good as far as an SUV goes. It does great on the snow and ice. The heat seems to always be on, that is just annoying though. I guess Olds was figuring anyone in this car would be using the AC.

The 02 Olds Bravada has been a pleasure to own and drive. I have had no major problems and with the air suspension it provides a very smooth ride. The gas mileage has averaged 19.1 MPG city/hwy combined. Parts and service are not a problem since so many mechanical parts are interchangeable with the Chev Trailblazer and GMC Envoy. I highly recommend this vehicle.
