Overview & Reviews
Nissan was born in Japan, and like other marques from its homeland, the brand is known for crafting vehicles that place an emphasis on quality and reliability. The company's roster of products is broad, and includes sporty coupes, family sedans, minivans, trucks and SUVs.
The automaker got its start in 1933 as the Jidosha Seico Co., Ltd. The following year, this outfit merged with another Japanese manufacturer, and the new company was christened Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. Nissan initially marketed its vehicles under the Datsun brand, with the first Datsuns being built in 1934. Postwar, the brand made its presence felt worldwide, building a partnership with the U.K.-based Austin Motor Co. and establishing a presence in the United States. The first Datsuns hit American shores in 1958. Vehicles like the Datsun 1000 were based on Austin platforms.
The '60s witnessed Nissan's merger with Prince Motor Company, a union that helped the Asian manufacturer create more luxury-focused vehicles. In the U.S. it began offering its first vehicle styled for the U.S. market, the Datsun 510 sedan. By the end of the decade, Datsun had exported more than 1 million vehicles. Datsun rose to prominence in the 1970s on the popularity of its 240Z sports car. Powered by an inline six-cylinder engine, the car was coveted for its blend of style, performance and affordability. By the time the '70s drew to a close, the automaker's cumulative vehicle exports had surpassed the 10 million mark.
In 1981, Nissan shelved the Datsun name and began selling vehicles worldwide under the Nissan moniker. The '80s also saw Nissan's launch of a tuning division called Nismo for the development of performance-oriented vehicles and accessories. Nissan also brought its production to American shores, with the construction of a Georgia-based plant.
The early '90s saw Nissan's fortunes rise in the U.S. thanks to fun-to-drive cars like the 300ZX, Maxima and Sentra. But this trend didn't last long and by the late '90s Nissan's offerings consisted of anonymous vehicles. The company's future was uncertain.
After the turn of the new century Nissan bounced back, helped by a 1999 alliance with Renault that boosted the company's finances. Its redesigned Sentra and Altima boosted sales and consumer interest, as did new models like the 350Z sports car, Armada SUV and Titan pickup. Today the manufacturer is known for offering a wide range of well-regarded vehicles, including the popular Murano SUV, the incredible GT-R supercar and the all-electric Leaf.

Awesome People Hauler!! - 2008 Nissan Quest
By kris - December 9 - 10:20 pmJust bought the 08 Quest. Car drives excellent and has a lot of room for my child, his stuff, my huge dog and all of his frisbees and all of our show equipment. I traded in an 01 Sentra that was exclusively maintained at the dealership and ran trouble free for us till we decided on a bigger vehicle. The van is very nimble and drives more like a car. Did consider the sienna and the odyssey, but the quest simply drove better and felt better. It was also cheaper by several thousands!

After Extensive Testing.... - 2006 Nissan Xterra
By X-Country Roam - December 9 - 4:03 amI bought my X in June of 07 with 18,000 miles on it. Since then, I have driven this thing almost 30,000 miles, from Chicago, to northern Michigan, to Myrtle Beach, to northern Ohio, in light floods, blizzards, and sand. No trouble digging itself out of 3 foot snow drifts, even a 4 foot ditch (when I was stupid, and turned the traction control off). Wonderful comfort and easy to pack for long trips. I tested the "top impact" rating with a telephone pole last winter. (Black ice, my fault, not the Xs.) Kept me and my passengers safe, roof held up no problem. Holds up very well in heavy summer traffic, 30 below temps, blizzards, floods, and anything else you can think of to throw at it.

A Solid, Reliable Workhorse - 1998 Nissan Frontier
By Buster - December 7 - 7:23 pmI bought this truck new. It now has 112,00 miles on it. The clutch, rear brakes, exhaust system and radiator hoses are all original, and based on the local dealer service department, are not in need of replacement. I have the 4cyl engine with 5 speed manual and get a consistent 25mpg; best mileage was 28mpg. This truck has never let me down, and with regular recommended service intervals, will probably outlast me!

Best Compact on the market - 2003 Nissan Frontier
By Johnnyboy07 - December 7 - 2:00 amI looked at all the compacts and even some full size trucks before buying my Frontier. Overall, the Frontier is the most practical for towing, hauling, and carrying passengers while still being able to fit in a parking space and not have to stop every 100 miles for gas. The long bed option is a must.

Nissan Armada LE 4X - 2004 Nissan Armada
By barginshoppersuv - December 7 - 2:00 amOverall I like this truck alot and its our fourth SUV. Your get alot of truck for the price and so much more interior room. My last SUV was an expedition and I only miss Keyless pad entry, mileage display, and digital climate control. Over all would never go back to a Ford again. Nissan has done a great job creating this SUV.

Great truck...rides like a car - 2004 Nissan Armada
By ksloan77 - December 7 - 2:00 amAfter Nissan works out the kinks with this truck...it should rule the large SUV market. Ride is fantastic. There is a problem with the roof of this vehicle. My hope is nissan does a recall and really can fix it. Avoid the DVD system in the roof, as this will add weight to an already strained roof. I will have my DVD system installed in the head rests of the front seats. Horsepower is amazing. Controls are easy to operate as is the navigation system. Coming from a former Explorer(2), Expedition(3), Honda Pilot, Land Crusier, and Yukon owner...this truck is already better than those .... and will be far better after Nissan fixes a few things.

Watch out Detroit - 2004 Nissan Armada
By nrsmiths - December 7 - 2:00 amWe just took delivery 1-5-04. I bought this vehicle to tow my 35 camper, and to commute to and from work. This is the only vehicle that we drove with the capability to pull the camper without going to a 3/4 ton tow vehicle. We were also very impressed with the value offered in this vehicle, compared with other vehicles in the class. We will be taking it on a long weekend trip in a couple of weeks and neither my wife nor I can wait to spend a few hours behind the wheel.

Great In Every Respect - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Rick Sheffield - December 7 - 2:00 amTypical Nissan, just change the oil and drive, no flaws, no defects, no going back to the dealer all the time! ...and the gas mileage? 25 mpg on a trip to Nevada driving fast with 245 horsepower!

Great Drive - 2003 Nissan Murano
By pageturner - December 7 - 2:00 amI hadnt bought a new vehicle in 13 years when I purchased my Murano. I drove every midsized and crossover vehicle on the market and none really came close particularly in handling! I really did my homework before this purchase and it has paid off. It is the most vehicle for the money in its class.
