Overview & Reviews
Nissan was born in Japan, and like other marques from its homeland, the brand is known for crafting vehicles that place an emphasis on quality and reliability. The company's roster of products is broad, and includes sporty coupes, family sedans, minivans, trucks and SUVs.
The automaker got its start in 1933 as the Jidosha Seico Co., Ltd. The following year, this outfit merged with another Japanese manufacturer, and the new company was christened Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. Nissan initially marketed its vehicles under the Datsun brand, with the first Datsuns being built in 1934. Postwar, the brand made its presence felt worldwide, building a partnership with the U.K.-based Austin Motor Co. and establishing a presence in the United States. The first Datsuns hit American shores in 1958. Vehicles like the Datsun 1000 were based on Austin platforms.
The '60s witnessed Nissan's merger with Prince Motor Company, a union that helped the Asian manufacturer create more luxury-focused vehicles. In the U.S. it began offering its first vehicle styled for the U.S. market, the Datsun 510 sedan. By the end of the decade, Datsun had exported more than 1 million vehicles. Datsun rose to prominence in the 1970s on the popularity of its 240Z sports car. Powered by an inline six-cylinder engine, the car was coveted for its blend of style, performance and affordability. By the time the '70s drew to a close, the automaker's cumulative vehicle exports had surpassed the 10 million mark.
In 1981, Nissan shelved the Datsun name and began selling vehicles worldwide under the Nissan moniker. The '80s also saw Nissan's launch of a tuning division called Nismo for the development of performance-oriented vehicles and accessories. Nissan also brought its production to American shores, with the construction of a Georgia-based plant.
The early '90s saw Nissan's fortunes rise in the U.S. thanks to fun-to-drive cars like the 300ZX, Maxima and Sentra. But this trend didn't last long and by the late '90s Nissan's offerings consisted of anonymous vehicles. The company's future was uncertain.
After the turn of the new century Nissan bounced back, helped by a 1999 alliance with Renault that boosted the company's finances. Its redesigned Sentra and Altima boosted sales and consumer interest, as did new models like the 350Z sports car, Armada SUV and Titan pickup. Today the manufacturer is known for offering a wide range of well-regarded vehicles, including the popular Murano SUV, the incredible GT-R supercar and the all-electric Leaf.

Armada= Lemon. Watch Out!! - 2004 Nissan Armada
By rob r - October 21 - 5:13 amMy armada is a beautiful car. the reliability of it is the worst. brake problems, and electrical problems that would never end. dealership would not stand behind it. not impressed with nissan now. I have a 2000 pathfinder.. that remains flawless.... what happened nissan??? try again. fix the mechanics and you will have a great car.. until then you lost my business. ps.. train your dealerships... Douglas of Henderson is a HORRIBLE place to buy a car... yo yo finance, lies, typical "used car" sales in a new car dealership. the worst car buying experience ever. From someone who loves nissan, a huge let down

Do not buy this car! - 2002 Nissan Altima
By Drew - October 20 - 10:10 pmI had my engine and cat converter replaced in Aug of 07 free of charge due to only having 78,000 miles on my car. But they charged me for replacing my O2 sensors which was $450.00. Just last month in April one of my ignition coils went bad. Dealership wanted to replace all four. I declined and just got the bad one replaced. Two weeks ago my car stalled out on me when I was getting off the freeway, and I was barely able to drive it to the nearest dealer. Intake manifold and gaskets were damaged; they also recommended changing my spark plugs. Bottom line is these cars are pieces of crap, no matter how much money you invest in these cars to fix them something else is bound to go wrong.

Rear end wanders - 2007 Nissan Sentra
By Heathenstar - October 18 - 6:16 amLove the car when road conditions are good. However, in snow, ice, or rain the rear end of the car wanders and is frightening to drive. No solution from dealer yet. Some websites suggest this is a problem with rear end alignment and could be a manufacturing defect.

Altima Review - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Kim - October 8 - 8:26 pmI bought a 2008 Nissan Altima, trusting into Nissan. Instead I got something unbelievable. It had nothing but problems. The tires wore out after 5,000 miles and I asked the dealer and he said the Altima comes stock with cheap tires and are expected to wear out soon. Also the paint chips off as if it were cheaply done, and the interior seats rip. I would recommend the Camry over this car any time.

So many things to fix... - 2006 Nissan Sentra
By meg - October 3 - 7:40 pmIve had my Sentra for about 3 years and put 40k on it. Ive replaced brakes, belts and a fuel pump and need tires. Blind spots are really bad. At 56" my legs hit the steering wheel if I try to drive while wearing any heel higher than 1". Loud road noise, heavy idle, jerks on acceleration.

Renault is tarnishing Nissans reliability - 2003 Nissan Murano
By mkh142 - September 28 - 12:12 amThese Nissans in many respects are Renaults in disguise. Renault has consistently produced unreliable cars for decades and now that they own Nissan, many of Nissans products are suffering. The Nissan Murano looks nice, and has nice features, but it is a reliability disaster as with every other "Renault". They are not designed to last, but instead designed to be "profitable" to the company. Id reccomended not buying and going for a more reliable brand.

The SUV I never got - 2016 Nissan Murano
By Brice Baker - September 26 - 9:21 pmI look up the SUV spoke to 3 or 4 dealers. No one had the SUV or tried to order the SUV for me so I do got a different SUV. I was looking for a Hybird SUV PLATINUM it was between the Murano and the Highlander and Edmunds said the Highlander was over priced so did consumers report. You dont list a Murano in a hybrid under trim type.
