Overview & Reviews
Nissan was born in Japan, and like other marques from its homeland, the brand is known for crafting vehicles that place an emphasis on quality and reliability. The company's roster of products is broad, and includes sporty coupes, family sedans, minivans, trucks and SUVs.
The automaker got its start in 1933 as the Jidosha Seico Co., Ltd. The following year, this outfit merged with another Japanese manufacturer, and the new company was christened Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. Nissan initially marketed its vehicles under the Datsun brand, with the first Datsuns being built in 1934. Postwar, the brand made its presence felt worldwide, building a partnership with the U.K.-based Austin Motor Co. and establishing a presence in the United States. The first Datsuns hit American shores in 1958. Vehicles like the Datsun 1000 were based on Austin platforms.
The '60s witnessed Nissan's merger with Prince Motor Company, a union that helped the Asian manufacturer create more luxury-focused vehicles. In the U.S. it began offering its first vehicle styled for the U.S. market, the Datsun 510 sedan. By the end of the decade, Datsun had exported more than 1 million vehicles. Datsun rose to prominence in the 1970s on the popularity of its 240Z sports car. Powered by an inline six-cylinder engine, the car was coveted for its blend of style, performance and affordability. By the time the '70s drew to a close, the automaker's cumulative vehicle exports had surpassed the 10 million mark.
In 1981, Nissan shelved the Datsun name and began selling vehicles worldwide under the Nissan moniker. The '80s also saw Nissan's launch of a tuning division called Nismo for the development of performance-oriented vehicles and accessories. Nissan also brought its production to American shores, with the construction of a Georgia-based plant.
The early '90s saw Nissan's fortunes rise in the U.S. thanks to fun-to-drive cars like the 300ZX, Maxima and Sentra. But this trend didn't last long and by the late '90s Nissan's offerings consisted of anonymous vehicles. The company's future was uncertain.
After the turn of the new century Nissan bounced back, helped by a 1999 alliance with Renault that boosted the company's finances. Its redesigned Sentra and Altima boosted sales and consumer interest, as did new models like the 350Z sports car, Armada SUV and Titan pickup. Today the manufacturer is known for offering a wide range of well-regarded vehicles, including the popular Murano SUV, the incredible GT-R supercar and the all-electric Leaf.

Frontier vs. Tacoma - 2008 Nissan Frontier
By jusdukky - March 27 - 3:30 amI really wanted the Tacoma but after driving both trucks I could not justify the difference in price. The Frontier is a very solid truck and Im really glad that I checked it out before making a decision. My wife likes to drive the Frontier and she did not like to drive the full sized truck we had before. Very cool and fun truck with plenty of room inside as well as in the bed.

"TOP" Titan owner pleased! - 2007 Nissan Titan
By david lytle - March 26 - 8:46 pmThis is my first Titan but not my last! I own a 31 ft. camper and love the way it tows it! It takes away a lot of stress that I had while towing with my Chevy Silverado 1500. While the Chevy has been a good truck, it can not compare to my Titan! I have all the get up and go that I need, very fast but also have all the pulling power as well ,all in the same truck. Did I mention the comfort? This truck handles and rides better than any suv that I have owned.I would not hesitate to go cross country in this truck! This truck is also easier to clean and maintain than most cars Ive owned except trying to reach across the cabin when washing. I only wish I had the Bose stereo like my Pathfinder!

What a CAR!! - 1996 Nissan Maxima
By Brian - March 26 - 5:13 pmI recently gave this car to my brotherin law with 236,122 miles and it runs like it was new. The power, comfort and reliability are unbelievable. Everything on the engine is original and the only maintenance is regular oil and filter, tires, brakes and at 110k I replaced the belts, struts and plugs. Dont know why nissan would change such a great engine. My new 02 doesnt even stand up to the 96 as far as reliability or comfort.

67,000 miles strong - 2009 Nissan Murano
By phantomteg - March 26 - 2:39 amI bought my S AWD Murano used with 9K demo miles on it. I love it as much today as when I bought it. I did have a noise come from the CVT transmission at 30K miles, it didnt break but was making a tick noise so Nissan provided me with a rental and replaced it with a new one. Since then I have Zero problems with the car other than regular maintenance. The original tires lasted me 66K miles. If I had to replace it today with someone else on the market I would get a 2011 Murano. During Chicagos blizzard last winter and with nearly bald tires I was still able to drive through 10 inches plus of snow without getting stuck!

Driving in NY city - 2008 Nissan Pathfinder
By alainw - March 25 - 10:08 amI own a 08 LE and an 1998 LE pathfinder. The 08 has 16k miles on it and the 98 110k. They both are great but absolutly not comparable. The LE also has the navigation and DVD package. I never was able to achieve better than 12m/g in the city in any condition in the 08 where it is 16 m/g on the 10 years older PF. My 39 m lease on the 08 will finish in 7 weeks and I will bargain buying it from Nissan Bank. Having said that I am definitly pleased overall. But I still prefer the built and drive of the 10 years older PF (08 is built on a truck frame while 98 is a car based SUV). I find that nothing is plastic inside of the latter and the plush carpet and in it are better quality.

If only it were turbocharged - 2016 Nissan Sentra
By NewSentra - March 25 - 10:05 amExcellent car. Very sporty with the SR trim, in red alert. It gives a very quiet, comfortable, and spacious ride. Mine has the electronics and drivers assist package. I love the navigation and the interior accent lighting. Its very roomy, especially the back seat and trunk. Almost as roomy as an Altima. More spacious than my 2000 5 series. My only complaint is that it could use more power. At least a turbocharged 4 cylinder. I love the car as it feels more premium than it costs. Check it out.
