Overview & Reviews
SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.
- Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

Great Car! - 2004 Nissan Murano
By SUV - December 12 - 8:36 pmThe Murano steers with ease even with the 18" tires and glides along without any sense of shift change. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The only difficulty is with the front and rear vision because of the design of the windows front and back. Other than that I would buy this car over again.

satisfied - 2004 Nissan Murano
By carol rimm - December 1 - 2:00 amThis is a fun car to drive; it handles quickly whether acceleration onto highway or stopping. The drivers seat is very comfortable and the adjustable gas pedal ideal. The attention to detail by the designers make this a female friendly car. The flip down back seat handle very easy to use. The trunk space very large.

SSSSMMMMOOTTTHHHHHH - 2004 Nissan Murano
By wedgebolt - December 1 - 2:00 amSUV looks but rides like a powerful sedan. Gas mileage is decent. Sunroof has preset open position. Roomy enough to hold my 3 kids in the back.

Beautiful car ---key problems - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Kathleen - November 25 - 1:26 pmIm thrilled with my murano. Ride is smooth and it is easy to manuver. I get lots of compliments. Bought the car used and got a good deal. Back seat ride is bumpy. Only problem is the key. I have had to take it to the dealer 4 times to get the key reprogrammed. The car at times does not start, it will turn over and eventually start. Dealer states key is sensitive and should not be kept next to magnetic items (i.e. credit cards, etc).

Great car, some drawbacks - 2004 Nissan Murano
By wgmcp - November 25 - 10:00 amGood looking peppy car/suv. Interior is very comfortable and everything is easy to get at. Gas mileage is nowhere near that advertised, but then again, no car ever is. The power drivers seat tends to move slightly when you re-enter the car and first sit down. The front a/c adapter is tough to plug into. Theres also a front storage area under the radio that is tough to get at. Youll also forgot you put anything there. Its fun to drive, handles well and provides good visibility, except through the small rear windows.

great car - 2004 Nissan Murano
By wwlloyd - November 21 - 10:00 amCar is excellent. Handles well, transmission is smooth and easy. We have taken the car on several trips and really enjoyed the comfort and economical gas mileage. We live in a canyon which receives substantial snow in the winter. With the addition of snow tires, the Murano goes up the canyon without effort, even when there is a foot of new snow on the road.

Not bad for the first model year! - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Balboa - November 21 - 10:00 amI am 64, 225 lbs. I find the Murano to be very forgiving for a person my size. Not only the legs, but the head room, even with the sunroof! There, you loose two inch of head room. Now I do not have to slide down in my seat in order to keep my head off the roof. I have had people come up to me and want to know what kind of vehicle that was, and there like....Oh, that is what the Murano looks like. They are impressed with the looks. Not too big and not too small, it has that look, like it means business.

Still love this car... - 2004 Nissan Murano
By arobsd - November 2 - 3:03 pmIm the original owner and mine has 109k mi on it. Im sure the performance has dropped since I bought it but I cant tell. Still pushes me back in my seat when I want it to. Still purrs like a kitten with no major problems. I definitely not a OCD owner went it comes to maintenance. Change oil every 5-10k mi. It does burn oil to the tune of 1 qt. every 1500 mi which is probably due to a clogged intake manifold. Ive always put in premium gas. Repairs incl. Alternator 95K, $700, Engine mount, 90k $400. Spark Plugs 100k $500, Repairs in the near future: Intake Manifold $900, Struts: $1000, Tie rods $400, Catalytic converter: $1000. Nothing pressing. Not bad for over 100k. Still looks cool too!

My Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano
By feisty3 - October 30 - 3:10 pmIf this suv were a man, Id leave my current husband and marry it! Only problem I have is that the drivers side mirror takes time to get use to. Even though the seats are adjustable, Il only 411 so the mirror poses an obstruction, trust me, a small price to pay for this GREAT suv. Not a day goes by where my Murano greats mouth opened wide eyed stares. I CONSTANTLY get questioned about it.

Do Not Buy Nissan - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Semirhage - October 27 - 6:16 amAt 59,151 my transmission went out. The Murano has a very expensive CVT transmission and I was told the repair would cost over $6,000. The transmission should have been covered under the powertrain warranty (60 months, 60k miles) -but I was apparently 1 month past the 60 month mark. Nissan jerked me around for 2 weeks pretending they might honor the warranty (while I racked up rental car bills) but in the end they made it quite clear they did not care about me or the vehicle they built. After reading about other problems with the CVT, I think a recall is in order, but Nissan doesnt care.
