This Year's Model Updates:

A clean-sheet redesign for 2007 produces a Nissan Altima that boasts an available 270-horsepower V6, a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a roomy cabin that's much improved in terms of overall materials quality.

Pros:
  • Strong performance from V6 models, smooth and responsive CVT, attractive cabin design with quality materials, generous interior room front and rear.
Cons:
  • Stability control not available on lower trim levels, mediocre comfort levels in backseat.

Great car, lots of room for the driver and in the back seats for adults! Lots of power with the 3.5

My girlfriend purchased this car new and it now has 102,000 miles on it. Being a die-hard American muscle car guy, I hate almost all FWD 4 cylinder cars, especially the imports. I was truly shocked by this one. The engine makes way more usable horsepower that I expected and coupled with the CVT, is able to perform well above its pricepoint. Somehow, Nissan managed to make this engine smooth and eliminated the torque steer associated with high power FWD cars. Girlfriend did almost no maintenance to this car for the first 90,000 miles. Car still runs great and gets low 30 MPG. CVT did die at 98,000 miles but Nissan replaced it for free. I do the maintenance and car is easy to work on.

I will never buy a car with the CVT transmission again. Engine noise is awful. But very comfortable car.

  • JUST SAY NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2007 Nissan Altima

Ok, so I have had this car for a little less than 2 years. Was brand new when I bought it and now has 30,000 miles. As other reviewers have said there has been nothing but recall after annoying recall. I absolutely loved driving this car, but about 2 months ago, it started to just not feel right. Long story short, I just had to have the front breaks completely replaced (calipers, rotors, etc) and had to have a NEW TRANSMISSION installed. All was under warranty, but give me a break! I love the way Nissans look, and they are FUN to drive when they run correctly, but I will never own one again. I highly UNrecommend this car!

  • Transmissions are the downfall - 2007 Nissan Altima

A great car other than the transmissions. I have had to have the transmission replaced twice while under warranty and now Nissan has extended the warranty on the transmission in recognition of this. Nissan of North Americas customer service is terrible. The second time it went out it cost me about $1900 out of pocket as I was on vacation at the time and had to leave it in another state for over one month. They refused to pay anything for this and I was on my own. Advise against buying this otherwise sweet car because of that experience. I would have been a loyal Nissan person forever if not for this experience.

  • Not Bad - 2007 Nissan Altima

I bought 07 altima 2.5s, it is actually not a bad car! I love the exterior much better than 06 altima, and interior is also better I think.I think nissan really steps up this time, but I think they should maybe do a little better job in the back exterior look :)

Brakes squeal. Popping sound from front wheel area sounds like the strut when turning engine clatters as if out of oil. Steering wheel and passengers seat vibrate. Stereo has cuts in and out, speakers have a lot of static at times. There have been times radio would not come on at all after a car wash. Dash and front right door rattle.

There are many qualities that I enjoy about my Nissan Altima, but there are a few that I am not so crazy about. I will start with the positive qualities first. The 2007 altimas interior is very spacious. I also really enjoy the push button start.... The audio features sound great, and it looks much sportier than some of the other cars in its class. However, I do have some complaints about the car. The drivers seat is very uncomfortable after about 20-30 minutes of driving. I find that my back usually hurts after long trips. Also, today it was 70 degrees here and my inside temp. said it was 41! The check engine light comes on from time to time.

Purchased this car used with 31,000 miles on it. Have had it for 3 months now and am really happy with the car. Great styling inside and out. Rides very smooth and no wind noise. I stand 6 foot and I am very comfortable in this car, my knees are not pressed into the dash. The only complaint I have is the stereo, the sound quality is awful. I assume its the base stereo option. Im thinking about upgrading the whole stereo system because of the sound quality.

Just bought car used from a new car dealer with approximately 30,000 miles by CARFAX ratings which were misleading. Drove car for 400 miles found it had squeaking, jerky brakes, told by crappy car dealer it was brake dust. Googled this Altima found out it had technical service bulletin for brake issues. Luckily had just enough warranty left to have brakes replaced by Nissan dealer, praying it will last. Dont care for CVT transmission but accelerates nicely otherwise. Interior & stereo is nice, like AC controls, but fogs up too easily during significant rains. Comfortable car, beautiful exterior design. But wondering when next foot will drop with brakes. Probably wont buy another Nissan.
