COULD BE BETTER - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By rome - December 5 - 10:00 amFUN SUV TO DRIVE, A LOT OF PEOPLE LOVE THE WAY THE TRUCK LOOKS. VERY NICE RIDE, HOWEVER, ALSO THE SUV HAD A KICK WHEN GOING FROM A LOW TO A HIGH GEAR. TRANSMISSION IS ALSO ACTING FUNNY, MAY WANT TO CHECK THAT OUT.

Best Family Performance 4x4 - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Hawaiian Time - December 1 - 2:00 amThe 2000 Montero Sport Limited 3.5 V6 is the best 4x4 we have owned. It is a great compromise between an all out heavy duty truck type 4x4 SUV (like the older 4Runners) and the newer Car based SUVs. It drives as good in the NW rain, snow, and ice as it does in the Hawaiian sun. The power of the 3.5 V6 is Outstanding as are the handling and ride. We consistently get 20 MPG. The reclining rear seats are nice (we didnÂ’t realize they reclined until this year) as are the storage compartments under the rear floor. Never broken down.

Even Better the Second Time - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By zascarace - November 30 - 10:00 amThis is the second Montero Sport Ive owned (I traded in a 1997 LS) and the only cause for significant complaint would be the level of sevice received from Mitsubishi Dealerships. The Montero Sport is quiet and rides smooth (for a truck). The "New for 2000" coil spring rear suspension really made the ride quite a bit smoother. In fact I will argue too smooth since I had to add air springs to level out the ride when loaded down for long trips.

Money Trap - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Just say no - October 24 - 10:00 amThinking this would be the alternative to an expensive SUV, what you save in $$ initially over a Grand Cherokee or land Rover you will pay for in Maintenance. Went through Brake Rotors 5 times. We only drove it 10k a year. 3 of these were before the car had 12,000 miles. Very noisey, rough handeling steering very rough. Felt very tinny, not sturdy. For a truck you would think it would be able to handle a small pothole without sounding like it was going to fall apart!

Good Value - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Daniel P Gale - October 17 - 10:00 amThe Montero Sport, in my mind, is an underrated SUV. The craftmanship is of quality, it is very reliable and priced very reasonably. My wife and I test- drove the 4 Runner, Chevy Blazer and Dodge Durango during the decision making process. We found the Montero Sport a better vehicle then the Chevy and Dodge. And very close to the Toyota!

Great value in a nice looking SUV - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By m_masaschi - October 11 - 11:16 amI purchased my 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport used and got a great deal on it, partly because it was listed as an LS pkg. I think it looks sharp, especially since I added an exterior push bar on the front. It drives a little rough for the rear passengers, but that doesnt bother me as a driver. The only mechanical problem that I have had with it was with the electricle system left me high and dry twice because of a loose connection. I have 88,000 miles on it and once that got fixed I have not had any problems, knock on wood.

Montero Sport has been great! - 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Darin - September 12 - 5:33 amI picked a Mitsubishi Montero Sport because of the reliability and looks. It has a look that many SUVs lack nowadays...smooth, simple lines, while remaining tough and rugged looking. Many manufacturers are starting to add strange lines and countours that dont appeal to the eye as much...the best SUVs (style-wise) were built in the late 1980s to early 90s, such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Montero, the old Ford Bronco, and the Toyota 4Runner. I am not sure if anyone agrees with me, but I will miss seeing new Montero Sports on the road.

Great SUV...the only caveat - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By rerg - August 18 - 2:00 amI love the vehicle...the only caveat is that the automatic transmission really needs another gear (5th) as the engine rpms run about 3000 at 60 mph...might account for the lower than expected gas mileage. Otherwise, its a real pleasure to drive...very stable and strong feeling vehicle. A total wiz on snow/ice covered roads!
