2 years of feedback - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By MonteroSportDenver - November 16 - 10:00 amIve had my XLS Sport for 2 1/2 years and absolutely love it. Purchased it used after comparing to 4-Runner, Grand Cherokee & Pathfinder. For the $$ it was the best option far and away. Save $10K over comparable 4-Runner. It is very dependable, great in the snow & ice and overall well designed. Would definitely recommend it to a cost- conscience buyer. Only concern is that its suspension gives a stiffer ride than its competitors but its well worth it off road.

By mji - September 28 - 10:00 amessentially happy with the vehicle. Have had previous SUVs and this by far is the better in the price range. no major problems with the car so far. Feels solid, powers well, and drives almost like a car. My wife enjoys the feel as well.

By AceRick124 - June 18 - 10:00 ambought at carmax 4/03 and drove for a year. Completely trouble free. It gets pretty good highway mileage, and acceptable city mileage. Lots of room for everything, and really comfortable. The stereo is great sounding. Love it!

Will Buy Another Mitsubishi - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By grlawson - April 27 - 2:00 amWhen we first got the MS there was a oily substance leaking from it. I took it back to the dealership and I havent had a problem since. It was something that had jarred loose during shipment and hey it came from Japan so maybe a few bumps. I love the ride and the kids love being up high. You can be stylish or sporty all in one vehicle. The four wheel drive is great. I lease it and am thinking of buying a new one and keeping it when the lease is up on this one if it continues to be just as great. I have never repeated a make of vehicle and I have had 5 vehicles in 13 years but Mitsubishi is a definite repeat.

Utility Proven - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By jy - April 26 - 5:16 pmThe Mitsubishi Montero is a get the job done vehicle. It has a reliable engine, transmission, and transfer case. It has a time proven engineering design that handles abuse. Its ride quality is that of a load bearing design. The interior is comfortble enough for about 18 hour rides with no aches on the legs and back. Its electrical system is reliable and strong. It is fairly easy to work on like plugs and such with enough room to get around.

my first SUV - 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By slow cooker - April 22 - 2:00 amThe Montero Sport LS is a very good vehicle. It has style, good power with just the standard v-6, and seems quite reliable. Of course, with less than 6000 miles on it so far the reliability hasnt really been challenged yet. My major issues so far are only 2: 1. Exterior finish. Quite delicate. I put a small mark on the door just by touching it lightly with my keys. Later I noticed some other marks under the same door, and Ive no clue how they got there. 2. Handling. On dry roads it drives like a sportscar, but on a wet road its scary. Dont know if its the vechicle itself or maybe the tire design, but I dont like it.

Best value I have found - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Teclarosa - February 28 - 2:50 pmI could not have found a better deal than the one that I got on my Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Its power lacks a little, but it drives like a well, not like an SUV, and its a small SUV thats easy to park but still has room for my luggage, supplies and a sound system for my gigs. Ive had no major and almost no minor mechanical or electrical problems. The interior is very comfortable, even the seats on the 10-hour vacation drives. HINT: look for a program (rented) model if you can find one in good condition - mine was 1yr old & had 13,000 miles on it for $21,000. My long-time mechanic says it should last me another 6-8 years if I want it to.
