Looks good...Drives well. - 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Herculesman - August 30 - 2:00 amI did a lot of research before buying this car. Turns out its one of the best decisions ive made. The car handles really well. I was suprised by how well the handling felt when i put it in 4WD in the snow. Plus, it look great on the outside. At times, i feel the pick up could be better (especially when merging onto the highway) but then again, you cant expect any SUV to have the pick up of a sports car. Overall, great car. Would recommend to all my friends.

Great SUV - 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By craig Lemelle - August 5 - 11:16 amGreat SUV, This SUV is based off the the award winning race truck of Dakar Rallye in the 1990s, a tried and true, race proven, durable SUV. The racing hertiage of Mitsubishi and vehicle make it a great truck. Mitsubishi really has a top notch SUV. Its styling is mean, beefy, and agressive. I love it. This is really the only SUV or truck mass produced from a race truck, Mitsubishi really did there homework. I cant say enough.

nice truck - 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By basagulo - July 19 - 10:30 pmI bought my 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Sport used with 8,000 miles on it back in 1997. I drove it cross country and in long trips for vacation. I also haul home improvement supplies, life rocks, and concrete in it. It is a very dependable vehicle. The power antena went out after six years and the Infinity radio went out after years years though. The leather seats are a nice touch. The engine keeps running and has not left me stranded. The suspension is truck like, this definitley is not a car based SUV. I love the look of the Montero Sport and I think most other manufacturers SUV was designed based on its looks. I have changed the radio to a CD player and the wheels to 17" to freshen its looks.

Drum Wagon - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By kickindrummer - July 16 - 2:26 pmI traded in my Ranger Pick-Up to purchase this Mitsu - it had 60k miles on it when I bought it, but it was in immaculate condition. I now have 151k miles and it still looks great! Runs fantastic and have only ever had one mechanical problem (bad gaskets at the base of the spark plug, causing loss of compression.) I bought it because I needed something to haul my drums around - this thing has more cargo space than the Space Shuttle! So handling my kit (all in road cases) was no problem at all!

I require a 4WD - 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By Tracker - July 11 - 1:46 pmI live in serious boonies in the northwest and need a real 4WD vehicle. I have had 3 XLS Sports, sold them all at 60,000 miles. Never had a single problem with any one and have been impressed by the 4WD capability coupled with decent (22 mpg Highway) mileage. The seats are a little short, stopping way before my knees, and it needs side bolsters for where I go. I wish the engine had a different drive belt. It rides rough, but it is tough! I cannot figure out why the resale value has been so low on these models. This is a much better off-road vehicle than my Yukon XL.

Not Happy - 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By JVP - June 5 - 2:00 amThis is the 2nd SUV in two months First had a vibration that 3 different mechanics couldnt find, gave it back Both get poor mpgs 11-15 and I drive normal both have poorly made front seats, spring in my butt. Traded 93 Pathfinder for 2000 Sport should have kept Path w/125,000 miles. Better mpgs and interior made much better.

Great looks, a few problems - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By nebhusker - May 1 - 7:20 amI bought my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport brand new in 2001. It looks like a million bucks, very rugged and sporty. The power of the 3.5 in the XS model is outstanding, at least compared to many other competitors in this class. This truck doesnt handle particularly well though. It is a bit sloppy in the turns. I have had a problem with uneven tread wear on the tires, with the outside of the front tires really getting worn. The air conditioner is very weak on hot days - you have to put it on full blast just to try and stay somewhat comfortable. Ive also had trouble getting it into 4WD mode early in the winter, if you havent used it during the summer. Overall this is a decent vehicle.

Dont buy for looks - 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By DianaB - March 11 - 8:30 amI really do like my Montero Sport but I had a Nissan Maxima that was 11 years old and Id do anything to get it back now! The gas mileage is horrible. I suppose that it is OK for an SUV, but not good for someone who drove a car that got about 25-30 mpg! Its fun, looks great, reliability is good too!

Mitsu Montero Sport 2002 - 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
By ChrisZ - January 27 - 10:00 amThe 2002 Montero Sport is a fun vehicle to drive, but the engine is sluggish at times. It seems as thought the 3.0L V6 cannot pull hills. It continually shifts gears searching for the correct gear. Also, there is a constant raddling noise in the front driver and rear passenger wheel. When we took it back to the dealer, they said that it is the normal sound for an SUV. I have had other SUVs and have never heard anything like this.
