Overview & Reviews
The Montero receives new 17-inch painted alloy wheels this year.
- High-quality interior materials, sharp cabin design, large cargo capacity, excellent off-road capability.
- Serious lack of power compared to rivals, mediocre on-road handling, cramped third-row seat, no side curtain airbags.

Our Third Montero - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By 2003 Evo - April 14 - 4:33 pmThis is our 3rd Montero (1992, 2001 LTD, 2005) Our experience with the reliability and dependability of our Monteros has been outstanding. Fluid changes and brake pads were the only maintenance we needed to do and we drive at least 18k per year in NE. My advice: Buy one before Mitsubishi stops importing them.

Extremely satisfied - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By Ronald Elzy - February 10 - 9:16 pmThis vehicle has only required routine maintenance. It has an extremely good ride and is very well equipped. I looked at quite a few "mid sized" SUVs the Mitsubishi has considerably more to offer!

Montero #2 - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By saundra Anderson - May 12 - 4:13 amThe Montero handles like a small car with SUV capabilities. It tows 5000 pounds without a problem. Its third seat is a bit cramped for an adult though. I dislike the spare tire on the tailgate because it makes the trailer hitch difficult to access. I plan to purchase Montero #3 soon.

Great Mitsubishi - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By Fred Wittmer - February 12 - 9:26 amOur 05 Montero Limited is a great vehicle. It rides like a car. It has plenty of room with great amenities. It gets pretty good gas mileage on the highway, but it is no so good around town. I would recommend it to anyone.

Montero - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By CLALawDog - August 30 - 12:56 pmThis is my second Montero. I have driven SUVs most of my adult life and the Montero is, by far and away, the best. There are so many SU-wanna-a- bes on the market that few true 4WD SUVs are left to compare. However the Toyota, Jeep, Nissan, and Mitsubishi are the top of the class. If you truly want or need a 4WD, stick with one that has driver-selected 4WD, not automatic all wheel drive. That is nothing more than a sales tactic and cost enhancement.

Montero - 2005 Mitsubishi Montero
By Brian K. - August 25 - 9:16 amVery pleased with overall performance of the vehicle. One criticism the vehicle had was acceleration, and that is unnoticeable. We have a family of four and with all passengers in car we have more than ample acceleration. We are definitely pleased with the vehicle.
