  • Great Car - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

This is my third Grand Marquis, and by far the best of all. They just keep getting better and better. I always put over 100000 miles on them before trading, with no major problems. Also, I get the dual exhaust model, as it adds a few more horsepower to the already peppy 4.6L.

  • Problems never addressed - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

A consistant problem is the head gasket on the 4,6 liter engine. it commonly leaks and costs +/- $1,500 to fix. Ford also used a plastic manifold that crack with wear, which cost $500 +/- to fix. The last problem is a brake line bracket on the rear crossbeam that can cut & ignite the gas tank during a severe rear end crash. Ford has recalled and fixed public vehicles but has not done the same for everyday consumers. Overall I would never buy this vehicle Ford or Mercury ever again.

  • Gas Mileage Poor???? - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis
    By -

I am not sure if others who are complaining of poor gas mileage have a different engine or what in their GM but, in my case, this car gets excellent gas mileage for its size. On road trips, my GM will get 28MPG and a bit more. This is with around 120k. We have not have the car tuned or anything else to enhance gas mileage. This is no hype or exaggeration. Now, I know that it is listed to give 22MPG Hwy as the official number. That might be true when it is new but, once it is broken in, the MPG shoots up. This is a very comfortable and reliable car for the most part. This why they and Crown Vic are popular as taxis and cop cars.

  • Only one complaint - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

Overall a roomy comfortable car. Mostly older men buy them, but good for young, big guys too. Lower lumbar support and power seats were great. Smooth ride

A very reliable car. No major service needed during the three years I owned it. Very confortable and easy to handle.

  • One of best American cars ever - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis
    By -

With few minor modification under the hood, high performance tires & shocks this car will leave others eat the dust. Winter tires for snow & the snow plow follows my tracks. With ECM(Computer) from sister Crown Vic.(Police Interceptor) you wont believe increase in performance. A true monster

  • Guidos Here - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

Overall I enjoy my 1999 Mercury Marquis LS. My only major complaint is the driver side seat is not very comfortable (for me) I am a fairly large guy 62 and over 280 lbs. I was hoping for better city driving mileage I average 18-20 mpg (without running the A/C)

I bought the car new and its been the best car Ive ever owned. The car now has over 55,000 miles on it and has only been in for warranty service ONCE and that was for a minor repair to a headlight lens cover. It gets 29 mpg on the highway and averages 24 mpg overall. Its quiet, powerful and rides well on all types of roads. Nice going Ford, its a terrific car.

  • Good Car - 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis

I bought my mercury Grand Marquis LS a year old with 25000 miles on it. It was our alternative to another minivan or SUV. So far it has been great. It gives an incrediable ride and performance is outstanding for such a large car. 0-60 in about 8.5 seconds. So far im very happy with my Grand Marquis except for one problem. After a hard rain, the car sometimes stalls unless at high RPMs.
