The GL-Class is a new large luxury SUV from Mercedes-Benz. Highlights include a roomy interior with seating for seven, many luxury-oriented features and a 335-horsepower V8 engine. Later in the year, Mercedes adds a more fuel-efficient diesel V6 to the GL lineup.
- Strong acceleration with gasoline V8, gas mileage in the 20s with diesel V6, quiet interior, many available luxury amenities, excellent fit and finish, comfortable seating.
- Ride quality might be a little floaty for some.

Just Hit 20K - 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
By Lawyeretal - December 19 - 8:56 pmThis was my pick by far based on looks, but I gave my wife the command decision. We drove everything out there from Lexus to Infinity and this one drove most like a car. She picked this one hands down. We have had to have the one of the air shocks replaced, but that was no issue. The fit and finish are superb and everything inside is solid and well constructed. We have taken it on 3 long road trips with 3 kids, and the quiet ride (for the baby), the comfort (my wife) and the joy of driving it (me) have further impressed us to the point that we will probably buy another in a couple years. The older kids love the back seat entertainment package!

Love this SUV - 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
By lovmycars - October 22 - 5:16 amWhat a great vehicle. Moved from an 01 Landcruiser I loved to this vehicle. Would have bought another "cruiser", but the style and options are a little dated. So far this vehicle is far superior to the "cruiser". The transmission and ride is unbelievably smooth and comfortable. The acceleration is great for such a large truck. It has almost every option you would want in a vehicle of this type and so far they all work wonderfully well. The interior is absolutely beautiful and all of the controls are efficiently located and I understand that most are copied from other Mercedes vehicles, which is good because they have been time tested.

M-B Gets it Right - 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
By carl kaseman - February 23 - 7:16 pmDrives like a big M-B sedan, which is not perfect (like our BMW M5) but nonetheless very competent and solidly comforting. Unlike most other SUVs that weve driven, the steering feels well connected to the road and very safe at high speeds on the highway. And, it looks right at home in the country club parking lot. The exterior design combines elegance and muscularity in a way that should become the new standard for luxury SUVs. The same can be said for its ergonomics, which are simply outstanding. The controls for its many gizmos and gadgets are readily accessible and fairly intuitive, allowing us to avoid spending our nights reading the owners manual.

Well built - 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
By saleem.qazi - July 11 - 12:53 amFun to drive. Front end not very smooth. It feels like its missing rubber bushings in the front. I hope it is an actual Mercedes and not just a name change from Dodge Durango to Mercedes GL450. It will be very disappointing if thats the case. Otherwise, it is a good vehicle. Also, its difficult to lift the middle row to get the 3rd row.

By chris - January 31 - 7:33 pmLooked at MDX: too small, too ugly exterior. Suburban Z71: looked good with too cheap materials interior for a 50K car. Then we decided to buy the 07 SUV of the year: The Mercedes GL450. The body doesnt look as sexy as the X5 we have, but for the big 3rd row seat, the cargo space, it cant get any better than this. Fit and finish of the exterior and interior is excellent, beautiful. Thats all I can say. I also test drove the Audi Q7. I like the look and the exclusive status of Audis, but the materials they used is nothing close to Mercedes or BMWs. With a comparable V8 engine, Audi wants $60k plus. Thats why you dont see many people driving Audis.

By Sam - November 2 - 12:13 amOwn this 13 months, bought brand new. Just completed 50k miles, had no problems. Excellent drive. With this size of SUV mileage is very good 24- 25MPG, perfect for the highway. Owned several SUVs but I think this is the best and think it will last forever. MB has really improved there product. We are very happy.

By str8line - July 20 - 3:06 pmOur family has had this vehicle for two weeks and it is spectacular. My wife is the primary driver and she loves it. Ive gotta think that some Americans (Chrysler influence?) were involved in the design parameters because the Germans finally nailed what an SUV should be. This chameleon is amazingly user friendly and provides everything you could want in a large SUV but somehow feels diminutive from behind the wheel. The interior is truly something to behold. Stitched leather, gorgeous wood accents, and appealing angles abound. A++

A Superior SUV - 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
By Great Benz - June 14 - 2:23 pmI wanted to move out of my less than dependable Volvo XC90 into a larger vehicle with better mileage. I looked at everything and eventually bought the diesel GL320 for the following reasons: Exceptional mileage for such a large vehicle. The performance of the diesel engine is superior to that of the twin turbocharged gas engine in the XC90, as well as some of the larger V8s. Extremely quiet and comfortable ride. The standard air suspension is perfect. Initial impression is that it is as solid as a bank vault. Crossing my fingers that the recent Mercedes quality problems do not crop up. At 2,800 miles, best vehicle ever
