Overview & Reviews
The RX-8 is an all-new car for 2004. Its arrival marks the return of Mazda's rotary engine to the U.S. market. Priced less than Nissan's 350Z, the RX-8 also offers four doors and a usable backseat.
- Low base price, agile handling yet still comfortable enough for daily use, room for four in a pinch.
- Option packages can get expensive, iffy interior ergonomics.

A blast to drive - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By rjenk - December 24 - 2:00 amThe RX-8 is an absolute blast to drive. Steering and handling are exceptional. There are so many little features and design aspects that are included that youll find things months after purchasing...many that will make you say "now why didnt someone think of that before?" This is truly a family sports car. The unique doors makes it easy for rear riders to get in/out.

Best Car Ever Owned - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By NEWireless - December 19 - 2:00 amAfter 10 years of driving "sport sedans" (BMW 533i, Audi 100, Audi A6) this car is a remarkable improvement in fun and handling while maintaining the ability to travel comfortably and conveniently with my children. Love the look, feel, and driving experience. Car pulls strong and smooth right up to the red-line. The Renesis engine is amazing. With the right snow tires, this car is proving to be a great year-round driver here in Boston, MA

You have to pay to play - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By Pepe - December 14 - 11:33 amThe car is a perfect compromise for someone wanting a light, agile sports car, but still needs some practicality for family or friends. It could have a little more oomph off the line (like the Mustang) but the weight and handling balance would most likely suffer (like the Mustang). I dont know of any car that is easier to drive fast, or combines powerful braking, easy heel-toe shifting, communicative steering and a very friendly (high revs are rewarding not anxiety causing) engine. There may be better cars in any one of the above attributes, but I can only afford one car, and this one is IT.

beautiful blue - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By jimboo - December 13 - 10:00 amI have had the car for two weeks now. What a trip I have never seen so many people stare at a car unless it was a Viper. Handles great, I am always looking for a reason to get in and drive.

Very fun and never has a problem! - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By Louis - December 12 - 11:26 pmLove the car, very fun to drive. Little kids on the side of the street get excited and people turn heads. Has a unique and fun sound, supreme handling, and I love sitting low in a car. It could use more initial torque, and wish they would finally come out with the Mazda Speed version (not likely). Of course as in with all Wankel Rotary engines.......fuel consumption. :(

Good Car so Far. - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By BJ - November 18 - 10:00 am700 miles so far. Gas mileage is not good but its a sports car. Needs Climate control instead of manual. The air conditioning does not cool the car and makes a clunk sound every so often. The air bag light comes on occasionally and when the clutch is not engaged it makes a grinding sound which can be heard from inside. The stereo system could be better. The black interior causes it to get too hot in the sunshine plus makes it appear dirty with very little dust. Overall good car.....hopefully continues as that.

bad ass car - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By mkpynes - November 18 - 10:00 amThe RX-8 is blast drive. The speedometer is very helpful because it is digital. The audio system is much better than the nissans 350 Z. The speakers dont sound like they are right at your ears. It is nive to be able to fit four people in a sports car. The interior could not be any sportier. I say the RX-8 is one of the best cars in 2004.

love my car - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By compactfun38 - November 12 - 2:00 amNot only is the car fun to look at, it is also incredible to drive. I was not sure what to expect out of the car with the new renisis engine and side ports but the car has been running great. Long distance travel and faster acceleration as well. Check to oil every 500 miles it is just that type of engine that needs to be checked on because of the rotary engine. Also let the car warm up for 3 to 5 minutes before taking off. You and the car will get along better. =)
