This Year's Model Updates:

The RX-8 is an all-new car for 2004. Its arrival marks the return of Mazda's rotary engine to the U.S. market. Priced less than Nissan's 350Z, the RX-8 also offers four doors and a usable backseat.

Pros:
  • Low base price, agile handling yet still comfortable enough for daily use, room for four in a pinch.
Cons:
  • Option packages can get expensive, iffy interior ergonomics.

Great futuretro styling makes it uniquely beautiful to look at from every angle, both inside and out! Quality fit and finish, and of course top notch rotary performance make this one stand out from the rest! She closely resembles a magnificent thoroughbred. Maybe a little hesitant out of the starting gate, she makes up for it in the stretch with smooth linear acceleration. On the road handling inspires confidence with quickness and agility. For unqualified driving enjoyment, elegance, agility, and styling there is very little competition at this price! Comfort for my 6 frame is very nicely accomodated in the front, and relatively adequate in the back.

Never thought of having a rotary until this sweetheart came. I have no complaints at all, great looks, great performance for such a small engine. everybody loves it. I love it

I bought my RX-8 about a month ago. I LUV this car. It is so much fun to drive. I live in Texas, and not many people know what it is..It is funny to see people watch my car, there are some major downsides to owning this car though. 1. The gas milage SUCKS 2. The automatic needs more horsepower. 3. taking care of the engine is a pain in the butt. You have to add oil every 3 or 4 gas fill-ups, You have be carefull not to turn your car off right after you start it, so if you are looking for a low mantainence car this is not the car for you. I love it, so I dont mind it too much.

  • Its not a luxury car - 2004 Mazda RX-8

This is the best vehicle in the sports car class you can own at this price point. The negative reviews you will see are due to the price of this car making people think it is not a true sports car. DO NOT buy this car if you are looking for A. Economy or B. Luxury. It is loud, bumpy and get bad gas mileage. HOWEVER!!! It is a premier sports car that will make you want to go two towns away to get milk, even if it cost twice as much. It is a blast to drive and will challenge cars you wouldnt think in handling and speed. No it isnt the FASTEST car on the road, but if you get into the twisties it the guy behind you will think it is!

Comfortable in the city and a blast on the country roads...and so forgiving at the racetrack. Keep the RPMs above 4000 and there is no other car in her class that can touch the overall value/capabilities of this car...and if you want, 4 adults can enjoy the night out on the town just fine. While I hate to start sharing the road with other RX-8s, more & more are popping up all over.

Ive only had my RX-8 for four months but I love it. I researched a lot of cars before I bought it and was interested in a few. I ultimately decided that the RX-8 had the best body design and I couldnt be happier with my choice.

  • My RX-8 rocks - 2004 Mazda RX-8

The title says it all. I only wish the fuel economy was a little better. I love this car and it was worth the 5-6 month wait.

  • Fun at a price (gas hungry) - 2004 Mazda RX-8

This car is powered by the RENESIS rotary engine. Rotary engines by design use oil, which is not a problem if you dont mind checking the oil every 2-3 gas fill ups. I get 15-17 mpg in town with a smile on my face every time. This is a unique car with unique needs but well worth every quart of oil or minutes warming up the engine to prevent flooding. I have never had a problem with my car and I am at 12,000 miles.
