Very QUICK car, good for driving in traffic, and curvy roads, until you get up to high elevations and you lose that last amount of power that seems so important. Quickness is its best virtue, and most descriptive adjective, which is more important than speed, because, were not racing, are we? SPeed limits favor quickness over power. Super comfortable. The leather seats are fabuloso. The sport trans is fun and fairly functional in many sitations, like mountain roads, traffic jams (you wont need to move to the brake pedal as often). Smooth is another applicable term for this vehicle, especially when driven moderatly. The brakes seem superb.

Pro5s are a well equiped package even in the base models. I have the bare- bone base 5MT model but it still comes with pretty much all the convenience bells and whisles with no additional cost. There are also ample aftermarket parts to make this pocket-car handle even better...and ofcourse, I have already added those to my car. :)

A loaded car with moonroof, ABS and side airbags for 17200.00 is a hell of a deal in my book. I have read many reviews and the complaints seem to revolve around three issues: Power, Stereo, and Roof Rack wind noise. Why buy a car with 130 HP and an engine under 2000cc and then say it has too little power? The car has plenty of get up and go. The stereo is not the greatest, however, that is easily corrected at your local stereo dealer. The wind noise is not too bad. Sure when the moonroof is open at 70 MPH it gets a little loud, but thats natural. In a nutshell, this car looks great, is fun to drive, and wont break your bank.

Purchased new 12-2002 after 350000+ miles on a 1991 Mazda Protege LX. No mechanical problems with the engine in this car!!!Only had to replace lock motor for $400.00. I use Mobil 1 and stay on top of the maintenance. Fun to Drive but you need to keep the tires aligned and rotated or they will be worn in a year.

Stumbled upon this car and never considered any other. It called my name. Very fun to drive, peppy and reliable. Very stylish, have had strangers tell me its a cute car. Takes corners beautifully, but its a rough ride on our freeways. Rather bouncy, like a truck. (Maybe its the freeways?) And the tires wear out quickly. But with the sunroof, tinted windows, and CD changer, Im a happy camper. The hatchback and seats fold down to an enormous amount of space for storage.

Automatic transmission died at 110,000 miles. This is pretty unacceptable for anyone looking for reliable transportation considering cars from most other makers dont have this problem. I baught this car used and did my research. I got it well taken care of and I continued regular maintenence(all fluids regularly changed including trans fluid) Changed timing belt and water pump etc. There were some minor repairs like the alternator and an intake hose too. But then the transmission started slipping and I took it to a mazda specialist. He said this was unfortunatly a common problem for these cars.

My wife needed a car to replace our failing saturn. I looked at everything in this price range. Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, VW, Kia, and all the americans. I was impressed with the style; it wasnt a little turtle like other brands. Im 62 and when I sat in it, it had plenty of room. It drove great and was very peppy on the interstate. The price allowed us to get the sunroof, the abs breaks, and the side airbags. Very cool car. Ours is a 2002 model. After 8 months of ownership, Im still very happy.

I really enjoy driving on curves with this vehicle, it really hugs the road. The seats are more comfortable than the Mazda Protege model. My Protege5 looks great and I get comments on it all the time.

I love the car! It drives good, handles even better. I didnt want the usual Civic/Corolla type of car. Every major car magazine rated this tops in every car camparo they did. This car seemed to fulfill everything I wanted in a small car. Great looks, superb handling and good comfort. After a test drive I thought the ride is a bit stiff, but thats because of the stiffer suspension. Our other car is a 96 Camry and this one is worlds different from it in terms of handling and performance. You cannot find a better car in this category. Except of course the 2004 3 model. Its got a more powerful engine and improved looks.
