PR5 more for your Dollar - 2003 Mazda Protege5
By CTK - January 7 - 2:00 amI wanted the Mazda6, but the wife needed to replace her van. Primarily we wanted a vehicle the kids could fit in and would get good gas mileage. We didnt want to loose confort and quality, by going budget. This car gives you the options and quality of a more expensive car with the smaller size and economy of a much cheaper car. Hopefully this car will last as long as my 93 626, still kicking and reliable at 130k miles.

Protegé5 - 2003 Mazda Protege5
By RedQuest - December 31 - 10:00 amThis is exactly what I was looking for. Sports suspension with enough power to go up smoothly through the hills I have to drive everyday. For me is just perfect.

So far so good - 2003 Mazda Protege5
By cueball - December 20 - 2:00 amHave not had it long, but so far really enjoying the car. Also test drove the Matrix, Vibe, Civic, and Corolla. Liked the Matrix, but would have felt like a fool revving around like you have to in order to get any kind of power. Also, the gauges in the Matrix/Vibe need changes, as does the ridiculous back-up alarm. The Protege5 handles so well, I am intimidated to seek out its limits. The ABS system works beautifully. The shifter and clutch are very, very smooth. And so far the dealership has been equally kind and helpful after the sale as they were before the sale.

Another buyer - 2003 Mazda Protege5
By fourbe - December 8 - 10:00 amI bought mine two weeks ago and waited to drive it a little bit before putting the review... I love the car: its good looking, handles well, and cheap! I have all the amenities you might want in a car (fully loaded). Its a great time to buy it since the 2004 model comes soon. I got it at $450 below invoice (thanks to reading the advice of edmunds.com)! Its not a power beast, but I was surprised to be at 95mph and be relax and feel safe. Also the braking system is great, which was one of the most important points for me.

Good Car for What I Paid - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By allister - December 5 - 11:00 pmI bought this car used at CarMax. It has 36K and is a good deal at $12,500 with all the extras including ABS. This is the first non-Honda Ive driven in 10 years. I am having to get used to the poor gas mileage compared to my Hondas 30+ MPG. City driving I get anywhere between 23-27.5 if I drive like grandpa. I like the roominess. I wish it had a better stereo. Also a lot of squeeks and noises from the front dash and doors. I read other reviews and this seems like the norm. The deal I got I cant complain. I wish for better mileage. Otherwise happy so far.

I LOVE MY MAZDA PROTEGE 5! - 2003 Mazda Protege5
By Phatgirl254 - November 29 - 8:03 amI bought my car brand spanking new on November 12, 2003. I looked at the car without even test driving it and bought it. The color is what reeled me in! It is now August 2008 and I have not had ONE SINGLE PROBLEM out of my car. The only parts that Ive replaced on my car are the front headlight bulbs and the tires! Still as the original brakes, clutch, transmission, radiator, etc. Its so much fun to drive and I have absolutely no problems making quick maneuvers in and out of traffic. This is my second Mazda and Im a customer for life!

My Mazda PR5 - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Sol - November 24 - 10:00 amI purchased this Pr5,as i liked the styling, and the look.It is almost nine months and have no complints, except one.The quiteness of the interior leaves a lot to be desired.Gas mileage is good, twenty five to the gallon. It handles and responds well.I have had a Mazda Millenia[lease]in 1997,and had very satisfactory experience, which led me to purchase this Pr5.

Wife wrecked one with 4,100 miles - 2002 Mazda Protege5
By Bengie - November 19 - 10:00 amWife was rear ended by a Honda CRV going 45 MPH afer she had stopped for an accident on the I 285 Beltway around Atlanta. CRV hit the rear, ran under Protege5, tiping nose into the ground. The cars frame collapsed perfectly, and even though not one piece of glass was broken, and all doors would open, and the car would run, the car was totalled. My wife received a sprained neck and back and only missed a day of work. She was sick that we could not get another car just like it. Our dealer worked hard to fine one 400 miles away and we are going to pick it up. This car is not only fun to drive, but protects you as well.
