02 LX, automatic with 6 disk cd/moonroof - 2002 Mazda Protege
By kdavis - March 12 - 10:00 amGreat little car, wish we had know about it before we bought an Eclipe for my self. This car outperforms the Eclipse in everyway except gas milage and radio. Maybe I can trade the other car in, this time for a manual.

Good used car - 2000 Mazda Protege
By dvx - February 25 - 4:53 amHad this for a year, bought used with 60k miles on it. Only had to get recall work done (mass air sensor replacement), replace brakes, and oil changes. Very reliable, built-in-Japan commuting car.

Way more interesting than the others - 2002 Mazda Protege
By lesliej - February 23 - 2:00 amBefore buying this car I test drove EVERYTHING in similar classes- it took me a year to buy a new car. This was the most functional and fun to drive car of them all. The year that Ive had the car has confirmed my initial impression & Im very happy with my purchase. The suspension is tight which gives it a rougher ride than others but as a result it handles way better. Good drivers car with great visibility and manouverability. No mechanical problems.

Excellent Small Car - 2001 Mazda Protege
By boggse - February 21 - 10:00 amThis is simply a great car. The handling is otherworldly in such an inexpensive automobile. The cargo room and passenger room are perfect. The seat comfort is perfect, especially compared to the Focus. The engine is great in spite of being a little underpowered for the suspension. I have no real complaints, only praise.

Just Totalled it Today - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Barté - February 3 - 2:00 amThis morning, Jan 26, 03 at 12:09, three friends and I were involved in an automobile accident in my 2002 Mazda Protegé ES. The accident involved a speeding pickup truck. The impact occured MAYBE 20 degrees of an angle away from being a head-on collison. My protegé is totalled. All four of us walked away. All four.

Great Car - 2001 Mazda Protege
By LOUIE - January 9 - 8:06 amI love my Protege I bought it for 3500 and it was worth it, I though it would have problems after so many miles but to this date I have only replaced the fan belts. It really could use a 6th gear, but over all I love my car! Great air condition the only little problem it has is where the clock is the numbers fade.

My most dependable car ever - 2000 Mazda Protege
By Brian - January 8 - 7:23 pmA great little dependable commuter. Ive nothing but good things to say about the Protege. Mine has gone for 8 years and 220,000 miles. The only issues aside from routine maintenance were motor mounts, front wheel cv boots, and a front wheel bearing at approx. 150,000 miles. Considering my purchase price of 11k in 2000 new from the dealer this car cost me just $0.05 per mile. Looking forward to my next Mazda commuter.

Fun to Drive - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Kurt Hoeper - January 3 - 10:00 amI have owned 5 Mazdas including the 323 the Miata and the Protege. I have sold Hyundai, Mazda and Volswagen for 9 years and have always gone with the Mazda. The combination of value and reliability keep me coming back. The new 2.0 liter engine gives the Protege the fun to drive quotient that it needed. Love my car
