Mazda comes with a few surprises - 2003 Mazda Protege
By mediterrenean - November 24 - 10:00 amGood deal at its price. Acceleration is ok but the inside ergonomics is one of the best I have seen across compact cars. The exterior paint is so thin that it chips away surprisingly fast. If your bumber touches another surface, get ready to see black streaks on it. Both driver and passanger door rubber seals came off and ripped apart after a year. May be it is because of how weather in CA. However, that is totally unacceptable. The dealer agreed to fix it under warranty, luckily. Make sure you show them exactly what is needed, because they do not check the car on your behalf and offer service.

Awesome Car - 2001 Mazda Protege
By Liz - November 8 - 1:13 amGreat car for a woman! NEVER have any mechanical problems; the only thing I do to this car is the routine maintenance that it needs. It already has more that 100,000 miles and is still running like the first day I bought it :)

Hard To Let her Go - 2002 Mazda Protege
By happygirl - October 7 - 5:30 pmNovember 2002, I purchased my 2002 Mazda Protege. I have had no problems. She stands at 86,700 miles. Interior great still looks like new. I love my car and it is the 2nd one I have purchased. I used to own a 1998 Mazda Protege manual drove her to 134,000 miles without changing the gear shift. June 2010, I was rear ended on the highway while my car was in motion. She ended up with 1,160 dollar worth of damage and still drives great. It is a bit nerve racking as the new cars seem to have lots of electrical problems. I thought about buying a new Mazda but a bit nervous with all the electrics. Cars are not made the way they use to be. So do I hold on to my baby?

Strong and Sexy - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Dave Yeboah - September 29 - 10:00 amI researhed extensively before I settled on this car. I rented Hondas, Toyotas, and Saturns just to compare to the the Mazda PROTEGE ES. I bought the MAZDA PROTEGE ES automatic with all the trimmings. There is no greater feel when everyone looks at your car at the traffic light before you ZOOM ZOOM away. When you drive the MAZDA ES, it causes jealousy among other drivers. Therefore, I urge all new MAZDA PROTEGE ES owners to be humble on the roadway. THE ES exudes strength and sexiness. This car comes HIGHLY recommended. I recommend you look in a Thesaurus for the word MAZDA. My Thesaurus has the words- MOST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

great value and fun - 2002 Mazda Protege
By tommy dee - September 10 - 2:00 amThe 2002 Mazda Protege ES was purchased for my 17 year old daughter to accomodate her senior year in high school and evenutally her college years. The family agreed the looks of the Protoge were greatly imporved in 2000 and the tight handling of the car was a welcomed break from our SUVs and other mid-sized vehicles like a Chryslers Sebring Coupe. The interior room is very comfortable and looks great. For an economy car loaded up with a moonroof/side airbags has only some common features missing compared to higher priced cars - no trunk remote and useable console armrest. This is off-set by getting a fun sporty ride and its stunning front end styling.

Still a great car! - 1999 Mazda Protege
By LeiInSeattle - August 30 - 10:00 amI bought this car brand new after graduation from college back in May, 1999. ES model I added powered sunroof. When I drove out of the dealer room, its only 13 miles on its odometer, now its almost 47000 miles. So far I had 3 problems, first happened in Twin Cities, MN in 2000, check sign was always on falsely, esp. during rainy and damp days, finally fixed it after several trips; Next happened in 2002 CD player didnt work, probably due to some scrached CD effect, changed a new player and another to make it work again. Both of above were under warranty. So I didnt pay a buck at all.
