Satisfied LX owner - 2002 Mazda Protege
By SatisfiedOwner - May 30 - 10:00 amWhat an incredible car for such a price! Its fun to drive (great handling) and it has a very nice build quality. The 2.0L is very nervous and its exterior is damn nice to look at. The only thing I dislike is its sound- proofing, especially under the car. You can hear every atom of dust hit the car. This could definitely be improved. But I dont regret bying this car a second... its way better than a civic or VW and you pay less because you dont pay as much for the name (but a the speed they are selling them, youll be soon paying for the name I guess)

Dont over look this gem! - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Bill S. - May 30 - 2:00 amI was going to get a VW Golf or a Honda Civic just like everyone else but then I decided to give the 2002 Mazda Protege LX a look and am I glad I did. The car rides great with sport suspension, and if there were a ratio for power to fuel economy, this car has got it absolutely right. Tight steering is a definite plus as well as the view. I like the fact that this car isnt loaded down with a lot of gizmos that add weight and can go wrong in the future. It has just was is needed for driving fun and "zoom, zoom, zoom" in the Phoenix area. Only thing I will need to do is have the windows tinted.

Mazda Protege 2002 ES Standard - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Newcarbuyer - May 24 - 10:00 amI have had this car for a month and love it. The ES is fully loaded, disk breaks, ABS, moon roof, CD, ft/sd airbags, wheel locks, cargo net, and alarm. This car spoils the driver with lavish comfort and exceptional safety. Not only does one receive all these extras, but they come at a very reasonable price. The drive, very stable due to its fully independent suspension but the standard is very touchy in low gears. As close as you can get to a miata with out tossing practicality out the window.

Protege a great compact - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Ray Moore - May 24 - 10:00 amI have driven the civic, sentra, and the corolla; in my mind the Protege is all in all a superior automobile. For the money and driving experience none of the other cars in this class can beat it. I am really impressed

good deal - 2002 Mazda Protege
By SettledForMyProtegé - May 7 - 2:00 amMy ideal car is definitely not a four door, but being a mere college student with hardly any money, my options for buying a new car were fairly limited. For this reason, I took up a wonderful deal on my Mazda. Aside from the fact that I feel like a soccer mom in my car, I have to give credit to my little Protegé. I have only had a couple of problems with it since Ive had it, but the problems were minor (including a cd getting stuck in the cd player and my alarm system being too sensitive) and were fixed promptly at the dealership.

Mazda Protege - 2003 Mazda Protege
By narayanmg - May 3 - 4:53 pmI switched from Honda Civic to Protege. The driving experience is amazing. The car is so much fun to drive. I have a 5 speed model and love it in the city driving. I have had it for over a month and already clocked about 1500 miles on it. My average mileage in the city varies from 33-37 per gallon.

Whats a Protedge? - 2003 Mazda Protege
By Charlie C. - April 25 - 10:00 amI had never thought about a Mazda Protedge. It is without a doubt the best car and most comfortalbe I have ever driven. I am 62" but I can strectch my left leg all the way out I the drivers seat. Who are these people? The fuel economy is great. The ride is very smooth, the stereo is killer. The only drawback I have found is it is a little sluggish on acceleration. Othere than that it is a great car.! Thank you! Thank you, thank you!! Job well done!!! Please, please tell Mazda thank you!

Overall A Good Buy - 2003 Mazda Protege
By JonSMayer - April 25 - 10:00 amI have had my Protege for about 3 months now and it is doing well. The actual buying experience was horrible (Note: Avoid Kings Mazda in Cincinnati, OH at all costs) but I got a decent price for the ES with the 6- CD/Moonroof option for around 14,900 out the door. The wind noise no problem, I find it only noticeable on very windy days. The gas mileage was a little dissapointing, I think I get about 25-27 mpg combined. Another small complaint I have is that the air conditioning never gets really cold, and on hot days (90s) takes much longer than you would like to cool down. Other than that the car has done well and I hope that this trend continues.

By tennesseejed - April 20 - 8:40 pmI have owned my Protege for almost 3 years and have very much enjoyed the experience! It now has 162k and everything, including the power windows and moonroof, is still working well.

Passed down to me. - 2002 Mazda Protege
By devin994 - April 19 - 3:44 pmFor the small amount of time that Ive owned this car, its absolutely fantastic! However, this car has been in our family ever since 2002. It has an automatic transmission and everything in the car is going strong even after 190,000 miles! This car has battled through many trips from New York to Florida and the only problem during all of those trips was that the drivers side window ceased to function. It was promptly fixed and works as good as new! The story on this car is that my parents had bought this vehicle new the year this came out. This car has mostly highway miles. 3 days a week, it travels 140 into the city and back home for the past 9 years. Never has it broken down!
