By xteban - January 10 - 9:06 pmI just bought this car yesterday, I was a big Honda fan that was all I had, but after 3 times that my cars being stolen I had to make a change and really the Mazda is a great car, soft ride compare to my 2000 civic ex, I love all the little details of this car, its well worth buying this car!!!

Fun car - needs more power - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Dan Charlebois - December 31 - 2:00 amI bought my 2002 Protoge in October of 2002 and it now has 11500 miles on it. The handling of the car is more than I could have expected. The car has very precise steering (perhaps a bit of oversteer) and the suspension is tighter than most in its class. This makes cornering quite fun, especially with the 195/50 R16 Dunlap tires. Living in Syracuse I had to buy a set of Blizzaks to get anywhere. The Dunlaps were useless in snow. If I had a problem with the car it would be that it lacks power. The engine doesnt get into its power band until around 4000 rpm. I highly recommend the 5 speed to get full enjoyment of the engine.

2001 MP3 Sporty Sedan (2.0l DOHC 16-V) - 2002 Mazda Protege
By tritonheat1 - December 19 - 11:50 amThe car handles so great, it makes the miata wanna have the suspension to keep up with the slalom that the MP3 can do. the acceleration is great powerful and have done easy 125mph stock with 8219miles as of today. I know this is for the Es review but i love my MP3.

Poor Girls Sports Car - 2002 Mazda Protege
By redhed - December 1 - 10:00 amI absolutely love my little Protege! Its fun to drive, is awesome in corners, and looks great. I still get a thrill when I see it all shined up, even more than a year after buying it (mine is black, with a mask on the front). I laughingly call it my "poor girls sports car" because its the closest thing to a sports car I can afford. Im very pleased with the handling and performance of this car. After test driving one, I knew I had to have it! It gives me the sporty look I like, but has the room for me to play "soccer mom" when toting my teenager and her friends around.

Economy Car wants to be a sport car - 2003 Mazda Protege
By BOBK - October 25 - 10:00 am2002 ES Automatic. Sharp look and style for interior/exterior. Road handling is great. Sleek and clean look in and out makes car look more expensive. Torque good enough to zip out of most turns. Feels like a sport car except for acceleration which is no worse than other cars I tested in this range. The engine makes a sturdy, raspy type sound when I get on it and gives a sport car feel. Dont expect sport care performance. Sport-shift mode is uselss because it does not respond immediately and feels no different than switching gears on an auto. Great car for the money. If it had 200 horses it could be a blast but thats a little much to ask at this price.
