WOW! SO MUCH CLASS FOR SO LESS - 2002 Mazda Protege
By alahiri - March 31 - 2:00 amJust bought an Shimmering Sand LS with ABS, Alloy wheels, Sunroof, Side Airbags. The interior is also sand. It looks elegant. Road-holding is excellent. Quality is unbeatable. Its roomier than Corolla, Civic and Sentra. It also costs less than almost everyone in its class except the Korean makes. Test drive if you like class and performance at an affordable price.

MOST UNDERAPRECIATED SMALL SEDAN - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Unknown - March 25 - 10:00 amThis is my 2nd pro ES 5 speed other was a 2000 which was totalled or id still be driving it for another 5 years!!!Very tight and well built car! Get one with ES premium pge and the MID CYLCLE REFRESH which is the one with restyled rims and side blinkers along with a few interior tweaks. I drove the civic(too boring)-Focus (too many recalls)and ElantraGT(???) and went back to the protege ES because it feels more solid and doesnt make you feel like your in a small economy sedan

2001 Protege ES - 2001 Mazda Protege
By Somsun - March 20 - 10:00 amI recently purchased a 2001 Protege ES via private sale with 24k miles. I know from experience that Mazdas just go and go. I owned a 1987 323 and as a second owner, it carried me well into the 200,000 mile stretch. I love the styling most of all about the 01 Protege ES. I look out at it in my driveway and smile; I like it so much! I love the interior styling and roominess of the ES. I drove a few co- workers and myself to lunch today and they commented how much leg room there was in the back seat. I like the spoiler because it helps me gauge where I am when backing out or into a parking space. Overall, for the quality and price it cant be beat.

Best car I have owned - 2003 Mazda Protege
By Tommyo - March 1 - 1:23 amI purchased this car as a left over. Its an ES protege. This car replaces my 2000 Honda Prelude. Its no where as fast as my lude but it holds the road and is as fun to toss around the curves. The transmission and clutch work crisp and silky. The build quality is supurb The red dash lights are cool. this car is better in every respect and faster than a civic ex. This car has plenty of room for my 63 body. All around visibility is excellent. Never one problem. consumer reports car and driver and motor trend rate the ES high always above its competitors. All proteges are fully made in Japan. Its a tight car and rides good. The engine sounds good too. Proteges always have A#1 reliability.

Reliable as the Sun - 2003 Mazda Protege
By trogglbey - February 27 - 11:53 pmI have a paper route; that is 60 miles a night of continuous stop and go with a heavy load of newspapers. This car never complains. Still has excellent get up and go with almost 150000 miles of hard driving. Never been in the shop for anything aside from a belt replacement and an AC recharge. Most reliable and solid little car Ive ever owned. No rattles, clunks, or squeaks to drive one crazy. I love this car.

Affordable doesnt have to be boring - 2003 Mazda Protege
By Omar Oddfellow - February 24 - 10:00 amSo far (five months) my car has been nothing but great. Very fun to drive with great suspension, and its decent on gas. No matter what I do it averages 28mpg. Fat steering wheel, firm seats, excellent handling and very good build quality. Front seat bottom is adjustable - helps long legs! And I dont see myself everywhere I go. In fact, I have not yet seen another ES the same color. Kids down the street said "cool car." The floormats are cheap and might as well not be included, and the 6-CD stereo doesnt have a lot of volume but everything else is above expectations.

Newbie Owner - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Docnshine - February 15 - 2:00 amSo far so good. Protege has been a pleasure to drive and is beautifully appointed within. Engine is relatively peppy (hey, its a four cylinder). Handling is crisp and responsive.

Good car for the money - 1999 Mazda Protege
By mjones78 - January 28 - 7:03 pmI bought this car used with 36k on it, today I have 185k on it. Its starting to run rough, but I have driven it very hard! I have changed all the belts, hoses, radiator, and some small things. The AC just went out last fall. (radiator only went because of the thermostat). In the 6 years, its broken down 3 times, and its been through an accident where I t-boned someone, so I would say this car has definitely given me all it could!!! Great car for the money.
