i like it a lot - 2002 Mazda Protege
By Joneser - June 1 - 10:00 amI just picked up my new car last night and the smile has not left my face. Partially because its a new car, and because I think that I got a really good deal. I picked up the 4-door LX auto, w/moon, alloys, cd, for @ $15,500.

Very good car for the price - 1999 Mazda Protege
By ben - April 21 - 2:00 amVery spacious small car, engine a little small for its weight but excellent fuel economy, very good visibility from drivers seat, picks up a lot of noise from the road. Have not had any problems or expenses, other than regular oil changes, paint coat is too thin. Definitely meets my expectations.

Mazda Good, but Needs Improvement - 2001 Mazda Protege
By Freebird - April 8 - 4:16 pmQuality car, with great handling, solid build quality and lots of interior room. Handles like a $25000 sports car. This is a reliable car with great mpg. Problems include constant idle shake, LR power lock went at 65000 miles All 4 suspension links failed around 80000 miles. Come on Mazda! Suspension is also a bit jostly on bumps. Seats are also uncomfortable on long trips. Trunk is too small.

low end version of a german car - 2003 Mazda Protege
By MaZda@NY - April 7 - 2:00 amI have had this car for about a year now and i havent had any problems with it. It definitely requires more power, cant do much with a flashy spoiler if it has 130hp!! Overall looks good. Should definitely have cup holders at the back.. it sucks to have nowhere to put the cups! Nice interiors.

Great car! - 2002 Mazda Protege
By bmd8534 - April 5 - 10:10 amI bought my car used almost 4 years ago and love it! It is fun to drive, sporty, and gets pretty good gas mileage. It has enough pep and pick-up for me, but I can see how some people would want more hp. I have had a few problems with it - Ive changed the thermostat, replaced both belts after they shredded, and have replaced the brakes twice. But it was a used car and has more than 80K miles on it so I figure its going to have some problems. Nonetheless, I love my car and am looking into the Mazda 3 for my next car. Mazda delivers on its "zoom zoom" promise.

Great car - 2001 Mazda Protege
By Zuumer - April 4 - 2:03 amI bought my Protege new and have had very little trouble with it. I usually get 32-33 mpg on the highway (occasionally 35-36) and 25 in the city. It accelerates well and handles great. Plenty of head room and great visibility. Sunroof still works perfectly after 7 years, no leaks. CD players LCD screen often goes partially blank until I push on it. Right rear door power lock broke around 60k. Replacement tires (195 55 15) are expensive.

2000 Mazda Protege LX automatic - 2000 Mazda Protege
By Josh - March 27 - 1:53 pmCar is going strong at 95,000 miles. Only repairs done to date are new door lock actuators, the radio/CD player, and recently replaced EGR valve. Gas mileage is great for an automatic, between 30 and 35 MPG. I even averaged 40 MPG once. My only complaints are the small engine and placement of rearview mirror which obstructs vision.
