Overview & Reviews
For 2006, the MX-5 gets its first top-to-bottom redesign since its launch in 1989. The roadster gains a roomier cockpit but still tips the scales at under 2,500 pounds. Beneath the hood, the MX-5 benefits from an all-new 170-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine. Side-impact airbags and ABS are now standard across all trims.
- Huge fun factor, precise steering and handling, low base price, economical to operate.
- A few questionable interior plastics, still snug for large adults.

New to Roadsters - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By Ron & Beverly Nezat - July 3 - 5:10 amThe fact that my wife and I have logged over two thousand miles of fun in this automobile are the best statement of our impression. I seleceted the MX-5 over The Mustang GT rag top. The Mustang will push you back into the upholstery as long as you go in a straight line. the MX-5 on the other hand is an absolute "Driving experience"! We recently spent a weekend in the mountains of Arkansas. I have never had so much fun. The Six speed manual in the MX-5 is perfectly matched to the engines spunky performance. Climbing and descending in the hills and curves is this cars specialty. Never have driven a car that was so much pure driving fun.

Buy one now - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By Rick - June 28 - 10:10 pmGreat car. Fast, agile, surprising gas mileage. Get the limited slip differential and traction control and watch the dashboard light up in the rain. Better by far than my old RX-7. Only beef is despite a bunch of little cubby holes the interior still has limited space for storing anything bigger than sunglasses. But who cares, drop the top, mash the gas, and it does not matter.

MX-5 experience - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By mx5 sport - March 12 - 10:23 amI like the Miata for its sporty feeling and it is fun to drive. It is the roughest riding car Ive ever owned and definitely wouldnt want to drive it on a long trip. This car is like its glued to the road which is good for handling but not for ride comfort. It rides like it doesnt have springs much like a Go-Kart. The road noise inside car is quite loud also. Power wise it has no problem for get up and go. Miata is probably the best bang for the buck as far as little sports cars go. When driving in heavy rain you better slow way down as this car will get scary as it will hydroplane easily.

Awesome MX-5 - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By J. Bednarz - February 19 - 1:43 pmI have only had my MX-5 for about a week, but can honestly say I have never had a car that I enjoyed driving more. I have had a lot of compliments on my Copper Red car and, in my opinion, is the best-looking affordable sports car on the road. Its got a lot of pep and corners nicely. I certainly got my moneys worth and more! Love my car!

Great fun car! - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By Red Fanatic - February 6 - 5:36 amI owned a 93 Miata for 6 years before getting the 06. Bought from a dealer on eBay. This is a terrific car, fun to drive, and is my daily driver. Top seals well and keeps me dry in inclement weather. Its got great power/weight ratio and the 6-speed box is great.

Catch me in the corners - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By passepartout - December 13 - 8:33 pmA great car. No other car communicates to the driver like my mx-5, I have a 240sx, had a CRX and a MZ3s; whether its through the steering wheel, the seat, or the burble of the exhaust, this car rocks! The top is easy to operate, the exterior is beautiful and classic, and the interior is attractive. Great fun, wont kill your pocketbook and over 30mpg on the freeway, what more could you ask for? Initially looked at an RX-8.

Fun, Fun, Fun-better than my Z3 - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By texasgirl - November 14 - 1:23 pmThe only thing I liked better on my BMW Z3 was the body style/shape. This Mazda handles curves like a dream, smooth ride, well thought out interior. Absolutely love the top! Can be put up or down from the driver seat in about 5 seconds. No boot to mess with. Great city gas mileage. Love the combined key/keyless entry remote.

Dream Car - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By Bradford - October 24 - 5:10 amThis is the most amazing car I have ever owned. It reminds me of the last sports car I had, a 1985 Honda Prelude, only this car is 10x more fun to drive. It has great acceleration, is easy to drive, and shifts like nothing I have ever driven. It takes corners like you are going straight, and asks for more. I wish I had bought this car five years ago. It will make you feel 10 years younger.

Best MX5 yet - 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
By Gary - September 22 - 3:20 pmThis is the 2nd MX5 for me. The first I purchased new 94 red with tan leather and top 5 speed. I put 186000 miles on it and wished I had never sold it. This is car is the first used car I have purchased in over 30 years, but it only had 5700 miles on it. Is a 2006 Copper Red Mica and tan leather inside that I love and tan cloth top. 33 mpg and pure fun. Hope Im as happy with this one as the 94.
