This Year's Model Updates:

The LS' already handsome appearance can be further enhanced with the LSE appearance package that includes 17-inch two-tone Blade Grey wheels, a unique front fascia, round foglights, modified Blade Grey grille with color-keyed upper trim piece, side rocker panels and rear valance, low profile spoiler, dual stainless-steel exhaust tips and LSE floor mats. Lincoln makes an in-dash CD changer standard for 2002 (with Alpine Audiophile components on Sport models) and restyles the 16-inch alloy wheels on non-Sport V6 and V8 versions. A Vehicle Communication System, which provides a voice-activated Motorola Timeport mobile phone, is optional and includes safety and security services, route guidance and access to weather reports, stock quotes and sports scores. Three new colors replace three old ones.

Pros:
  • Confident steering and handling, choice of either a V6 or V8 engine, comfortable and roomy interior, clean exterior design.
Cons:

  • Bound to be a Classic - 2002 Lincoln LS

When it comes to collectability, a vehicles: styling, quality, performance, and enjoyability are paramount. Lincolns LS, which had a relatively short production life, certainly is stylish inside and out, and is extremely reliable. Reliability alone can make owning a car enjoyable, but ones appreciation for the LS is found in its sporty ride and excellent handling.

I have owned my LSE for a year now and still wake up every morning excited to drive it. It loves to be driven hard and on the twisties.

Had a few as rentals over the past year and was more than impressed, time and time again. Last time I drove it, decided to turn in the keys of my BWM 535i. More than happy with this car. Ford has done an amazing job in putting this together. Keep finding more and more people features that amaze me and how this car was thought out. Amazing performance as well. Love driving this more than the BMW.

This car is a real winner when it comes to the "fun to drive" category. It has excellent acceleration and corners like its on rails, by far the best "road" car Ive ever owned! However, I dont think Ive had a car with so many squeaks and rattles before. The first ones started making noise at less than 1,000 miles, and its only gotten worse...much worse! The fuel economy leaves a lot to be desired as well. I have friends with 4.6L Mustang GTs that get better, or at least similar, mileage than I do with this little 3.9L V8.

LOVE THE RIDE AND HANDLEING. THE TRUCK ACCESSABILITY WAS A KEY FEATURE AS WE NEED TO CARRY A WHEELCHAIR FOR MOM AND THE EASE TO LOAD AND UNLOAD FROM THE TRUNK WAS SUPER. ALSO HAD A GREAT NEED FOR THE DUAL ZONE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING.

The car is wonderful. The V6 has plenty of power and the handling is excellent. The Alpine audio system is first rate. Very comfortable interior, but could use more interior storage space.

  • First impressions of 2002 LS8 Sport - 2002 Lincoln LS

First impression after owning my 2002 LS8 sport one week and driving it 600 miles. I have experimented with the SelectShift transmission in various situations and so far it has performed well. I have not experienced the problems that I see mentioned frequently in reviews. If I shift it as one would normally do with a manual when RPMs are at a reasonable level, it reacts without delay and shifts smoothly. Even when shifting more aggressively, the transmission performs well.

An incredible automobile that feels like it belongs on the most challenging raceway, yet offers the convenience and luxury you’d expect in a Lincoln.

  • 2001 LS V6 Auto - 2002 Lincoln LS

The LS is a great car, I have very few complaints other that the V6 with auto is a bit underpowered. I just dont feel a real punch from it. Also the steering is a little too overassisted for my tastes, I prefer a little better road feel. Starting the car presents another problem not just with mine either, all LSs almost never start on the first try in a cold start. It takes some cranking. Cornering ablilty is top notch however and everything else about the car is wonderful.
