Lexus has earned a well-deserved reputation for turning out utterly refined luxury vehicles. The hallmarks of this brand are a quiet, well-crafted cabin, a plush ride and commendable performance from powerful, nearly silent engines.

Lexus began out of a desire by parent company Toyota to create a world-class luxury car brand. Groundwork for Lexus was laid in the mid-1980s, when the company began tapping U.S. focus groups in an attempt to define design concepts best suited for American consumers. Hundreds of prototypes were built and tested on Germany's autobahn and on U.S. roads.

In early 1989, the company unveiled its first two models (which would debut for the 1990 model year) -- the entry-level ES 250 sedan and the flagship LS 400 sedan. The LS 400 was lauded by both journalists and consumers alike for offering a stellar luxury-car experience, with a remarkably silent cabin, superb build quality and a refined V8 engine. At the same time, the LS was priced considerably lower than smaller, lesser-equipped, six-cylinder European rival luxury sedans.

By the early 1990s, the Lexus brand was expanded to other markets, including the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. More models were added to the lineup, including the SC 300 and SC 400 coupes and the brand's first luxury performance sedan, the GS 300. By decade's end, the company had added SUVs (in the form of the LX 450/LX 470 and RX 300) and had sold more than a million vehicles in the U.S.

The first decade of the 2000s saw Lexus proving itself a trend setter with the launch of many hybrid-powered versions of its vehicles such as the RX 400h and the GS 450h. And by 2011, Lexus even introduced a world-class supercar, the LFA.

In the years since its inception, the Lexus brand has distinguished itself time and again in quality and reliability surveys. The brand's vehicles may not offer as much passion as some Teutonic rivals, but for drivers interested in vehicles that emphasize quality, dependability and comfort, the Lexus marque is hard to beat.

Go anywhere in any weather in style and comfort. Gas: 14-16 mpg is the only shortcoming, but that is to be expected when getting hauled around by this full- time AWD powerful V-8.

  • Easiest Car Buying Decision I Ever Made - 2004 Lexus RX 330

The RX 330 is a pleasure to drive and has plenty of power at all speeds. Mine has the 18 inch wheels and they are very smooth and quiet. The new exterior is turning heads and because of the more aggresive styling it is no longer a "soccer mom" vehicle. The power rear door is very convenient and can be opened inside my garage with the garage door up or down. The RX fits in the gargage without having to take eveything else out. So far this vehicle has been flawless and the dealership experience was painless. If the RX was a sports car that got 30 mpg then it would gotten a perfect 10.

Walked into dealership on last day of Lexus December sale which ended jan 4. They had the exact car I wanted and made me a deal I couldnt refuse. Car is solid, rides smoothly and is very accommodating for a 61" 200 pounder Ive had an BMW X3 and a ml350 and I like the way this car drives much better. I love the way the rear seats slide forward for more cargo room . I didnt like the look of the 2016 . It looked like a murano to me. If you can still find a 2015 model, buy it. Its a very smooth driving car vehicle

  • My first luxury car - 2007 Lexus ES 350

I was looking for a quiet car with Sirius Satellite that would make my many long days of driving less painful. After checking Acura and Infiniti I went with the ES, and I am very happy with my choice. The ride is quiet, the engine powerful, and I am getting 27 MPG. Cant beat that.

  • Our Second RX - 2004 Lexus RX 330

The new RX330 is a marked improvement over my 1999 model. I love its smaller turning circle, its more powerful engine and its smoother ride. I love the interior finish except for the imitation stainless steel sement which cheapens the look in my opinion. Also appreciate the automatic rear door and rear view TV.

  • Lexus SC 430-2008 - 2008 Lexus SC 430

I have owned as many as 50 cars in my time. My lexus sc 430 convertible out wins them all. The leather is so soft and inviting that I can ride in the car all day. The sound system is tops, and the driving experience is like none other. The paint on the car is beautiful and I am trying to preserve this car because I do not think that there will be another like it. The body style commands attention, what can I say except that this car has earned the number one place from me!

  • Unbelievable Quality & Ride - 2006 Lexus GS 300
    By -

This is by far the best car Ive ever owned. The ride is smooth as silk and the responsiveness is top notch. The interior is impeccable and luxurious without being overstated. Ive read other reviews regarding the hide away panel with the less frequently used controls and actually like it as it keeps the dashboard from being overly cluttered. The navigation system is easy to use and quite intuitive. The Mark Levinson sound system is one of the tops in any car Ive owned before.
