My new "H" - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Judy - September 17 - 7:03 pmThe new hybrid handles very well. So far the gas mileage is not close to what had been promised, but I have been told it will improve after 2,000 miles. I was told, and the manual says, that it uses Regular gasoline. The dealer, the shop manager have all said to only use Premium or the car will not run as well as I would like. The front seats are narrow and stiff. Do I like it? Yes. It is great to drive, the upgraded sound system is wonderful and it is detailed very well. Would I buy it again...time will tell but at this time I am not sure.

The Hybrid has finally arrived - 2006 Lexus RX 400H

I liked the technology so much that I put a down payment on a Lexus 400h last year and finally got my car last week. I have driven it more than 200 miles and what pleasure. It is quiet, comfortable and powerful and I am enjoying every minute of the drive. The gear noise that some experts had pointed to in early reviews is not evident. And the luxury and the feel is so good it made my Prius look like the starter car it was meant to be. I am averaging 26 MPG with hard driving it. I see no reason for any one to drive any SUV but the Lexus 400h.

By denman - July 16 - 4:06 amAfter 1000 miles I am enormously impressed by the ride, comfort, acceleration, and hybrid performance. It is a technologic tour de force on the part of Toyota Lexus. The milage is 40% better than the Passat 4 motion that I traded for this vehicle. While high in cost, it may not be so bad if gas stays at 3.30 per gallon for 87 octane. Averaging 27.5 over last 870 miles--a mix of highway, mountain driving, and short city trips.

By Jennifer Fenster - July 14 - 8:26 pmThis is a really great car, I would recommend it to everyone, it is comfortable, sporty, fast, (when you need it) quiet, (so quiet I have forgotten to turn the engine off a couple of times). Definitely not a car for anyone who wants to save money on gas, the MPG is not great for a hybrid. I average around 24 MPG with mostly city driving. I bought a hybrid to help save the planet and to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and I waited for an SUV style hybrid that was big enough to make it practical for my lifestyle. I am very happy with it except for the lousy gas mileage.

By Richard B. - June 3 - 10:43 pmI waited patiently almost 11 months to get my new Lexus RX400h hybrid SUV, knowing that the new vehicle would live up to its hybrid hype. After all, this is Lexus, and as a previous owner of several of their products, I fully expected that not only would I be driving a technological car-of-the- future, it would be comfortable, luxurious, attractive and environmentally friendly. The increased fuel economy of hybrid technology would be an added bonus. I had gotten 20 mpg with my RX300, so the expected 29+ mpg of the 400h was going to be cool. Woops, something went wrong along the way. My hybrid only gets 21 mpg. Not 25, not 30, not even close. More $$, less mpg. Whats wrong with this picture?

The Finest Luxury Hybrid w/ AWD - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Dave - May 28 - 3:33 amA wonderful ride, marvelous features that are too numerous to mention. The navigation system is a luxury that I cant see how we lived without. Seating is comfortable as one would expect. The synergy drive is fantastic. Gas mileage could be better but for the weight of the vehicle and the power it is quite acceptable, far superior to non-hybrids of this size. No need for a third seat, this isnt a suburban, larger isnt always better. More power than you need to merge and pass. Auto wipers are quite a nice treat and the headlights are probably the best I have seen.

By SKC - April 18 - 4:46 amBoth of us really like this car. The only complaint is probably a common one - it does not live up to the EPA mileage estimate. Excepting the first 1000 miles, the next 550 miles averaged about 26.3 mpg, per the cars estimate and a bit less by actual miles vs amount of gas needed. Cant blame it on the way I drive because I always hit the EPA estimates on all the cars we own. Main advantage of the car is V-8 performance with regular gas and good mileage.

A Tour de Force - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By xdoc - February 23 - 3:10 amSupremely comfortable, jet fast and smooth even for a car, zero defects, easy entry and egress. Customizes to my every whim. Never in 36 years has a vehicle delivered all this for me. More? Great climate control and seats, even in back. Electric lumbar support thats truly wonderful. Auto wipers and auto dimming mirrors are unexpected delight. Etc. If you want an SUV that accelerates & rides like a fine auto, easy in & out, plus 4 wheel stability and capacity, higher driving position, this is the one. Love the hybrid quiet in town and the acceleration. RE: FUEL economy. Driven fairly aggressively with a lot of freeway driving, getting 22 mpg HWY/26 CITY.
