Not bad... - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Geo-Green - July 15 - 8:36 amI own a 2005 Prius too. Obviously, the Lexus is much more luxurious, $$$, with impressive acceleration and space. I am pleased with the quality of this hybrid and am averaging about 27 mpg in day to day driving that is a mix of highway and town. I have to admit, however, that I actually prefer driving the Prius. Why? There is just something remarkable about its "hybrid" combination of fuel efficiency (48mpg), fun, its real time message: CONSERVE. With two teenagers the Lexus provides the room that the Prius cannot and its terrific that a SUV type car can get decent mileage, but, truthfully, its just not the same as my little funny-looking, fun-to- drive Prius.

Premier Hybrid - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Kurt E - July 12 - 7:10 amOne of the quietest vehicles I have ever driven. Transition from gas engine to electric is so quiet and smooth I can never tell when the engine is running, unless I really get on the gas. Averaging 29 MPG which is extremely nice, considering the rising gas prices. Luxurious and quiet interior, Lexus has a winner!

Lexus quality, not so great gas mileage - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By r1509 - June 27 - 6:13 pmI have had this vehicle for about 4 weeks. I have put about 4200 miles, mostly highway, on the 400h and this is my experience: The 400h is a pleasure to drive. Lots of power when you need it, and rock stable on the road at speeds (by me) up to 105 mph. All systems (air, power, etc.) are flawless. Now the not so good news. The highway mileage is about 26 mpg, excellent for an suv of this weight. In town, where I expected it to shine, Ive been getting 22-24 mpg, and that is with careful monitoring of the fuel consumption, and attention to light acceleration. I have talked to other drivers who have the same 400h experience. I have to admit that I am disappointed. Perhaps it will improve.

Where is the gas savings? - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Jon G - June 26 - 8:26 amI love the car, and Im glad I have it, but I dont have a clue about fuel economy. I traded in my Ford Explorer for the Lexus when MY gas prices hit $4/gal. Ive never gotten any better then 22mpg.

Awesome - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By fred - June 26 - 1:13 amThis car really is fun to drive. I had a VW Toureg before the Lexus and this car so far is more reliable. The fact that the Toureg used high test at 13mpg made me look for an alternative ride. I am happy with the choice I made.

Get Real-Greatest Hype Ever - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Steve - June 25 - 8:36 pmDO NOT PURCHASE THIS HYPE Vehicle! Seats are hard, rear end cramps on longer trips, Blind spot looking back over left shoulder. No coin slots, no place to house phone, bluetooth uses speakers which sound like a tin can, no access to radio control to improve sound. 20MPG, Factory rep and dealer said OK and meets factory specs?? You cant see a child in front of this vehicle or anything else lower than the hood, no sensor system in front. The LS 430 is a luxury vehicle, this is not. The Toyota Sienna has electric fold down rear seats this one does not. Space in rear way too small.Instrumentation is very poorly designed. Over priced 4 what you get. Gets stench from Air Conditioner.

love it - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By EUGENETILLEY - May 17 - 11:06 pmI love the gas mileage, the look and the feel.If I bought it again, I wouldnt pay extra for the powerful sound system. It is not needed. The top feature is the quiet ride when it runs on electric power with the gasoline motor not running. The great fuel mileage is just a plus!!! Go Lexus! Eugene Tilley

Gas Mileage a Fraud - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Kelly Turton - May 13 - 11:03 pmTouted as 31MPG City, 28MPG Hwy. We have around 1800 miles on ours and the very best it gets is 21MPG overall. Dealer said that it did not need a break in period. Now they say it could take 6000 miles to break in. Both dealer and factory said the RX400h is more about performance and less about MPG. Baloney! There are a lot of cars out there that get 21 MPG. The only reason we paid the $10,000 higher sticker price over the regular RX model was for the better mileage. Both dealer and factory have tried to blame our driving habits. We live in So. Cal. where the weather is good and the roads are level.

2006 Lexus RX 400h - 2006 Lexus RX 400H
By Haz - May 10 - 6:16 amLet me qualify that I traded a 2002 BMW M3 in on this vehicle, so the fun to drive rating for me was relative. I find the vehicle to be everything I was looking for as I needed the utility and cargo carrying capacity however I was unwilling to burn the amount of gasoline/pollutants for the 97% of the time I would not require same. Acceleration, comfort, ride quality... the LEAST amount of compromise for a vehicle segment that offers little choice.
