Overview & Reviews
Other than the Nakamichi audio system value package no longer being available, there are no changes for the RX 300 this year.
- Well-appointed interior, perfect road manners, excellent crash-test results, optional four-wheel drive.
- Allergic to major off-highway work, cumbersome LCD screen in center of dash, feels more like a minivan than an SUV.

LaTreses Lexus!!! - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By latresec - October 2 - 10:00 amI really love my Lexus. My heart was set on the X5 but after driving both, the Lexus has a smoother ride. The dash isnt as massive as the X5 and I just believe for my style the Lexus is a better match.

Best Used Car I Ever Owned - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By FEdward - July 21 - 12:13 pmPurchased my RX with 84K miles and a 100K warranty. Car was in spectacular condition and according to service records had been meticulously maintained. Dealership found a leaky rear axle seal under warranty, but had no other issues. The 90K maintenance was a bit pricey (timing belt, flushes, et. al.) but reasonable. A fuel modulator had to be replaced right after warranty expired for @ $700 parts & labor. Have not encountered the engine failures that others have reported. Fit, finish & features still solid at 115K and dealership has been just wonderful. Bought an 07 ES 350 two months ago and the trusty 02 RX has become our fun, weekender. This vehicle sold me on future Lexuses from now on!

Lexus rx - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By billy joe - June 18 - 11:13 pmA great SUV. Interior little small for six footers or over. Gas mileage sensitive to speed. Would purchase again because of quality and reliability. Can put up with minor inconveniences in the "cockpit", e.g., the big hump in the cener that bumps your knee when you enter the vehicle and in the way of your right knee when driving.

The RX 300. - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By KD - March 4 - 10:00 amSteering SUCKS, Car has the ever so FAMOUS Glove box rattle, and some other noises that just arent worthy of the 44K price tag (out the door.)The goodyear Intergerity Tires Look LIKE and are CRAPPY. The car rides very nice, is pretty quite, but has developed a front end Squeak that seemingly cannot be fixed @ 22K miles. It has been a good car, but the V6 LACKS the power that can be purchased elsewhere for the +40K we paid. IE, INFINITY, JEEP, Mercury! We like the car but it is ?able @ 44K.

trans failure - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By Mike J - July 25 - 6:13 pmTrans failed at 87000mi.(out of warranty) Had dealer replace trans ocos $4000. Maintenance schedule does not suggest or state to "service trans" by replacing trans oil/filter. Just states to check fluid level. Will not purchase Lexus or Toyota againg.

Rattle, rattle, rattle - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By sanfoja - July 15 - 7:13 amLove the RX300 EXCEPT for the rattles, have been plagued with these since about 1500 miles. Dealer has tried and tried but cannot fix the rattles, more just appear. Gonna trade this one in which is a shame because, otherwise, it is a great little ON-road SUV (also own a GMC Yukon 4Dr, 4WD for serious duty). The fuel mileage is a bit disappointing too, but it is AWD so I wont say it is awful (18 city 19-20 highway).

Lexus luxury - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By TAR - October 5 - 8:33 pmVery comfortable, smooth and quiet ride but very poor turning radius. I love driving this car--it feels like I have arrived!

RX 300 poor long term investment - 2002 Lexus RX 300
By mikeb - March 22 - 4:13 amA nice car for the missus - she loves it, size and drivability (except for the horrendous small turning circle) - Lexus reliability on this vehicle is a myth - the same things go wrong every two years - there is nothing worse than intermittent problems that leave you stranded!
