Overview & Reviews
"While most owners of luxury SUVs will seldom put their vehicles to the ultimate test, LX owners can have the utmost confidence in their vehicle in poor weather or while fighting their way through the worst hazards of urban life." This philosophy was declared in the 1996 press kit for the original Lexus LX, a vehicle that kicked the luxury SUV craze up a few notches by decorating a Toyota Land Cruiser with added standard equipment like leather, wood trim, an upgraded stereo and a third-row seat. Although the automotive marketplace has changed considerably since then, today's Lexus LX 570 still follows the same philosophy.
Underneath the LX 570's organically robust styling resides a rough-and-ready, body-on-frame truck platform designed for serious off-road duty. Customers today are just as unlikely to venture onto muddy trails as they were back in the middle of the Clinton administration, but that hasn't stopped Lexus from stuffing a full range of sophisticated off-road-enabling technologies into its latest LX. At the same time, this is one of the most luxurious vehicles Lexus makes. As a vehicle that can do it all, the LX 570 is almost without peer.
Current Lexus LX 570
The Lexus LX 570 is powered by a 383-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. Mechanically, the LX 570 is heavily related to the Land Cruiser, and both boast tremendous off-road capabilities. In addition to its truck-based design, the LX 570 features a permanent four-wheel-drive system along with respectable wheel travel and ground clearance. There's also a new electronically controlled off-road Crawl Control mode. When this feature is activated, the 570 uses its antilock brakes and electronic throttle to fearlessly descend or ascend steep, slippery slopes. All the driver has to do is steer.
While dedicated off-road vehicles tend to behave like jittery behemoths on pavement, this Lexus is as civilized as it gets. Special to the LX 570 is an electronically controlled suspension with adaptive ride height and damping control that delivers the type of buttery-smooth ride expected of a Lexus.
Also expected of a Lexus is a wealth of luxury goodies, and as the brand's flagship SUV, the LX 570 is crammed like no other. Standard features include 20-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, a power liftgate, power-sliding second-row seats, four-zone automatic climate control, a voice-activated hard drive navigation system, a rearview camera and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. Optional highlights include a stupendous 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound system, a chilled console bin, a rear-seat entertainment system, cooled front seats, heated rear seats and adaptive cruise control.
The Lexus LX 570 is also adorned in the finest interior trappings of its class. The leather upholstery is almost inconceivably supple, and the wood inlays are some of the richest you'll find at any price point. Other materials are similarly beyond reproach. The LX also offers seating for eight, although its rearmost row is suitable only for children and doesn't fold flat into the trunk floor. (Each piece of the split bench flips against the side walls at the press of a button.)
In reviews, we've found the Lexus LX 570 to be very good. But like its forbears, this Lexus is rather pricey. Much of the blame can be heaped upon the sophisticated off-road systems, so it's hard to justify this luxury SUV if you never plan on utilizing its many all-terrain talents. Competing models offer similar luxury, performance and accommodations for less money.
Used Lexus LX 570
The LX 570 debuted for 2008. Compared to the current model, those produced until 2011 (there was no 2012 model) featured slightly different styling and interior trim details. The instruments and trip computer display were also less advanced. Other changes of note were the upgraded navigation system for 2010, along with the addition of an iPod interface, Bluetooth streaming audio and Lexus Safety Connect emergency telematics.
Those interested in a previous-generation Lexus LX should look for the Lexus LX 470, which was sold from 1998-2007.

Best vehicle - 2010 Lexus LX 570
By chiggy1 - March 23 - 10:54 pmThis is my third Lexus, the first two were LX 470s and after I sold the last one I decided to get a two year old Rang Rover Sport (supercharged) for a change. And what a change, overheating problems, brakes binding requiring new pads and rotors after 30,000Km and a leaking sunroof that caused a wiring short inside the passenger side quarter panel. Looked good and was reasonably comfortable and was incredibly fast with that supercharger, but horribly let down by reliability issues. I then decided that for that kind of money I should get something I know would be reliable like my two previous Lexuss. I wasnt disappointed and have found the LX 570 to be many times nicer than the the 470

Nice, Very NIce - 2009 Lexus LX 570
By I Luv Cars - October 24 - 5:00 pmTraded in a Mercedes GL450 for this car. While the Mercedes drove more like a car vs. a large SUV the LX570 is much more of a luxurious ride. There is also much more interior space. My three kids noticed it before I did. We have much less issues with "Stop touching me!". We had a road trip in the car and found it to be very comfortable. Very pleasurable to drive. Lots of extras on the car. The Navigation system was outstanding and easy to use. The sound system is great and the kids loved the built in DVD. Overall a very nice car. We liked it better than the Mercedes, and the Range Rover.

Lexus LX 570 - 2013 Lexus LX 570
By rjb12 - August 19 - 8:33 amI purchased this vehicle on July 30, 2013. Nothing but problems. First day tire pressure warning light came. Took it back to the dealer and they repaired it driving home 8 miles later came on again. Took back to dealer and they replaced sensors. On Thursday September 12 car completely shut down very scary moment. Lost all power SCRA light came on, warnings lights, engine lights on. Couldnt restart no power, head lights stayed on locked in park couldnt do anything even lock doors to call Lexus. Lexus service sent out a tow truck and they had to put the car on dollies in order to tow it back to dealer Newport Lexus Sales Manager explained that vehicle is dangerous refused to replace it.

A Graceful Hippopotamus - 2008 Lexus LX 570
By DBK - June 5 - 2:50 amThis car was bought for my wife; I drive a Porsche Cayenne. I think it is wise to point out a few differences in the vehicles. 1. This Lexus is really big and bulky. It does everything you want, but there is no escaping the fact that this is a large truck based SUV. The acceleration and handling is not as good as our other vehicle. The interior is quiet, but not as quiet as a nice sedan. I read one review that described it as a graceful hippopotamus and I think that sums it up perfectly. If you are looking for a capable, big, strong SUV, then this is the one for you. If you are looking for performance and agility, then I think the Porsche Cayenne beats it hands down.

Ultimate of the Ultimates! - 2009 Lexus LX 570
By Big Ride - October 4 - 8:43 amThis is simply the ultimate, go anywhere do anything with class luxury SUV available on the planet. Our family owned the 2003 LX 470 and that was great, but this is beyond great. We looked at the best from Land Rover, Mercedes and even the Cadillac and there was no comparison. Value for value, reliability for reliability and capability for capability there is no other SUV that compares. Own one and you will understand!

2013 Lexus LX570 - 2013 Lexus LX 570
By redsix - February 13 - 10:55 pmPurchased this vehicle as CPO. This vehicle will definitely not attract most of the SUV lovers. Its fuel economy is not great and it holds too less for what it needs. As the review says there are many other options that have better features. The new HID adaptive headlights with the spindle grill definitely update the car to certain degree. If you want to buy a large, flagship SUV that has awesome "Lexus" reliability and descent maintenance cost that youll keep for a decade or so while treated welcome at the dealers, this is your car. Otherwise, go lease the European rides and return them as soon as your lease is up or get rid of them once the warranty ends.

Same old stuff but worse - 2014 Lexus LX 570
By zeus2012 - August 30 - 6:49 amI owned a 2011 LX 570 and enjoyed it, it drove great and I never had any problems with the SUV. I purchased a 2014 LX 570, 3 months ago and have been surprised & disappointed. The electronics system sucks. The navigation is not up to date, there are 36 presets on the radio sound system, but I am not able to label them. So I have 36 numbers. It is a danger looking for a particular station. The weather map looks like a five year old with a magic marker. The Lexus Enform App never works. $93K and I have a 1990 Ford Escort electronics package.

Animal power - 2008 Lexus LX 570
By highperformance - March 17 - 11:43 amI have put 10K miles in driving on my LX 570 in 3 months. This truck reaches its zone at 70+ miles an hour. Passing on two way rural roads at that speed, you have to watch it as it crosses 100 MPH in blink of an eye, feeling solidly stable, quiet and effortless at 120 MPH. I had to install a K40 radar because this truck loves to sneak up in speed. Although peppy, it is not geared for low speed torque but has plenty of headroom at high speed.
