Excellent, but costly to maintain - 1996 Lexus LS 400
By Great Car - October 21 - 2:23 amI purchased a beautiful black 1996 LS 400 with factory chrome wheels in 2004. I thought, well, yes the car is 8 years old. However, it is a LEXUS and it only had 78,000 miles. I have never owned a better riding car. Ride is very quiet and smooth. Build quality is excellent and interior features and creature comforts represent true luxury. However, keep in mind that this car is also expensive to maintain. I have just called to set up an appointment for the routine 90,000 mile service and the price tag? $1,500 ! This is not for repairs, just routine maintenance. I consider that a lot, however, I guess most people who own these cars from brand new would have no problem affording it.

Almost Heaven - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By NoVa - October 19 - 10:56 pmGreat car for full-sized American. At 6-2 and 275 lbs, I fit easily and comfortably in this car better than any I have ever driven. Effortless man-machine interface - this car is takes the stress out of driving in the DC areas insane traffic. Not sporty or flashy - but has plenty of performance if you need it.

Great car, but not flawless. - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By Hawkman - October 17 - 2:00 amDont get me wrong, I absolutely love my LS400, but being the critic that I am...I was expecting even more perfection. Still the best car Ive driven, though, when it comes to peace and serenity. Stereo system is good but not as heart thumping as I was expecting. My Jeep GC 5.9 Limited with only an amped 12" sealed sub sounded better. Transmission is awfully jumpy at times. Slow speed transitions can result in head snapping if not gentle with gas pedal. The car is SOO quiet, that I am able to hear every little thing. I have a small rattle in the door when driving over bumpy roads...small vibration/rattle in the sunroof also. Thats it.

99 LS400 - 1999 Lexus LS 400
By tripole - September 24 - 3:33 amThe vehicle was purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned, and has been flawless over the past 50K miles. The acceleration, and great fuel economy, are fantastic. It also stops on a dime. The build quality is excellent.

300,000 Miles! - 1995 Lexus LS 400
By Jake - September 17 - 8:13 amI bought this car with 336,000 miles only because every mechanic I took it to said I couldnt go wrong buying this car. The deal I got was amazing and this car feels brand new even with all these miles. Only regular maintenance done on the car, engine and tranny are original but run like new. Definitely recommend this car to anyone.

Great Luxury Car - 1995 Lexus LS 400
By moshemm - September 6 - 10:26 pmI bought a well cared 95 LS400 with 100K km on it from a family member for my wife. Fantastic car, outstanding build quality (try the same age Benz or BMW, I did), rather boring drive, maybe because it was driven very leisurely before and it may have an adaptive transmission that remembers driving habits. No other car in that age will last. Very expensive dealer service.

Very Happy! - 2000 Lexus LS 400
By UncleSean - August 5 - 7:53 pmI absolutely fell in love with this vehicle on the test drive! It has the perfect balance of power and comfort. If you need to pass someone you can do it as easy as the wind blows, and when you want to cruise along comfortably, this car will make you feel like your hovering on air. The interior as well as the exterior are absolutely timeless in design, the car turns heads! If you can find a deal on one, GET IT!

Great Luxury Car - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By svimburg1 - July 22 - 1:10 pmSmooth, quiet and powerful. Drive 400 miles on a tank of gas in serene comfort. My three young children prefer taking the LS 400 where they must sit side by side in the back versus taking our van where two of them can ride in captains seats while the third has the back row to himself. The car amazingly seems to promote family harmony. I bought my car in January 2014 with 133K on the odometer and it has run flawlessly for 8,000 miles over the past seven months. The original owner took excellent care of this car after he paid 60 grand for it. Although it cost much less as a used car, I am still maintaining it and treating it like new. Love this car!!

Lexus: My Dream Machine - 1999 Lexus LS 400
By sargeusmc57 - July 13 - 8:13 amIve salivating for a Lexus lo these many years, and at last I own one. Used, albeit, but mine you bet. It is a treat just to look at this car. And to sit in it and drive it is a great treat for an auto enthusiast. I have driven just about everything in the American cars, and they can not compare in the slightest with this Lexus LS400. As for performance, it is exceptional - - 0 to 60 as fast as a Corvette. Quick enough for me at age 69. I just love to drive, wash, and polish this car. The look and feel of it are outstanding. On the road it is getting a tad over 25 mpg. I never came near that with any of my Detroit v8s - not one of them. Try one of these used as I did; its great!

Best Car on the Road - 1998 Lexus LS 400
By The Juice - July 6 - 2:00 amI have to say this car is truly astonishing!!! No comparsion with the previous year model. This car just glides over the road. Why buy a new car, when you can purchase a used Lexus LS400 that will simply be a better car, unless of course it is a new LS430. Believe me, you cannot buy a better car for the money, new or used than a LS400. Nice part is everyone will really believe youre loaded, even though you paid under $25K for the car.
