This Year's Model Updates:

Lexus polished up some of the details on the ES 330 for 2005. Revised exterior styling includes a new front and rear appearance with updated lighting and trim. Inside, color revisions and new wood availability keep things fresh. New 17-inch wheels are available in either chrome or alloy finish. A memory function now applies to both the driver and front-passenger seats, and heated and ventilated front seats are a new option. A revised steering wheel with auxiliary audio controls debuts, as does voice activation technology for the optional navigation system.

Pros:
  • Comprehensive array of luxury and convenience features, superb ride quality, silent cabin, advanced safety technology, excellent reputation for reliability.
Cons:
  • Bland driving characteristics, many of the most desirable options are expensive, no split-folding rear seat.

  • Solid vehicle for under $20K - 2005 Lexus ES 330

This is my first Lexus and most certainly not my last. Its funny how people dont understand how nice a Lexus is until they actually own one. They do so many little things to their vehicles that others dont. When you finally own a car thats made in Japan, youll understand. Yes, there is a known transmission jerk that you learn to avoid, trust me I own one. Plus, the dealer has a flash for the ECU to almost fix it.

This is a great car for the money, however when accelerating, there is a definite hesitation in the take off. This has been a problem with many cars in the 330 line and Lexus should do something about it. This model could use a more powerful motor. Other then the above, this is a great car for the money.

  • Frustrated by Lexus - 2005 Lexus ES 330

Ive been wholeheartedly disappointed with the ownership experience. Dealer "acknowledges my problems" but states "Lexus has no technical fix". Problems are transmission surging when accelerating from a near stop (say, 5 mph) following speed humps or in stop/start traffic - caused by computer controlled throttle and wind noise from drivers mirror. Also, dash & door rattles that come and go depending upon outside temperature. From a brand ranked by many as being of high customer satisfactory rating, I personally have been wholeheartedly disappointed with the ownership experience. I truly want to love this care but remain frustrated with Lexus and Toyota. Expected more for the money.

  • Overpriced vehicle - 2005 Lexus ES 330

Poor tires, poor transmission, poor gas mileage, no performance for the money, car has no traction in snow and we had to change the tires almost immediately because they could not handle wet conditions in New England. The new tires have excellent traction but are considerably more noisy. A little stiffer ride but worth the change.

If I was 10 years younger, this car would not have been my first choice. However ,in my mid 50s its perfect. Luxurious, quiet, classic and, with the ride stabilization, it handles relatively well. The shift lag seems to improve over time. It can be reduced by decisive decisions to accelerate. If you hesitate, it does too.

Bought a 2005 ES330 recently and so far Im very satisfied with my choice. I have less than a 1,000 miles on the car but so far no problems and the transmission is shifting smoothly. The best I could do was a $1,000 off the MSRP and a fair price for my trade-in. Dealer politely told me he had others interested in this car. At first I thought this was just talk until the interested party showed up at the dealership will I was finalizing the deal. Ive owned BMW and Mercedes and I was looking for comfort, quality, and long term reliability-Lexus was the ONLY choice.

  • Size vs me - 2005 Lexus ES 330

The Lexus ES 330 is a nice car. However its a bit cramped inside. The between the seats cup holder is terrible and the acceleration is weak. Fuel mileage on trips is good, but poor around town.
