Mileage is not what is advertised and now wish I had gotten the 6 cylinder instead of the 4. My turn-signal lever started sticking and will not turn off when the wheel is straightened after the turn. Blue Tooth problems about which apparently KIA failed to tell the dealership. My Motorola Moto will not consistently work with the KIA blue tooth. Check the phone list before you discover this. There is a list which KIA can send you to show which phones do and do not work. The list is out of date and most phones on it are NLA. I hear sounds and I am not sure if it is my vehicle or what. I am getting nervous about what else is about happen

We got one of the first LX 6s, it has much more power than the 4 banger. It handles great and comes with rear A/C. It comes with third row seats which are too small and if used there is almost no rear cargo room. However, when not used there is plenty of cargo space. Quality and build are excellent & power train seems flawless. Drives a bit choppy on rough roads but very smooth and quiet otherwise (has 18 inch tires). So far gas mileage is close to sticker and we use A/C most all the time. You get a great deal of standard features for the price and its made in the USA. Got it for my wife but after my first drive I wanted to keep it for myself. Our last SUV was a gas guzzler.

We researched many vehicles before deciding on the Sorento. We debated between the 4 and 6 cylinder and decided on the 4 since we did not want 3rd row seats. We took it on a trip through the PA mountains and had no problems with power. Good at acceleration and hill climbing. We averaged 27 mpg on highway and 22 mpg city. I was a little concerned about ride comfort, but after this trip found it to be more comfortable than the Grand Caravan we traded. Leather seats with lumbar support helped. The biggest drawback is the cost to replace 18 in tires when the time comes. Overall a very pleasant ride and so far we are pleased with the purchase.

Ive had my sorento for about 1 month, so far so good. Its a very solid vehicle. I test drive cr-v, gmc, Chevy etc. before I bought. I am very happy that I did not buy any of others. It has very nice interior and fun to drive.

  • Nothing but problems - 2011 Kia Sorento

I have had to car for one year now and everything started out great. I loved the car but as the months went on problems started to arise. First, the car would not shut off. Even when you took the key out and walked away it still ran. Kia fixed the problem, said it was a faulty break relay switch. Now the car at times will reset everything electronic and other times will not start. Kia cannot figure out the problem. The cars transmission will slip at highway speeds causing a bit of a scare. I would not really recommend this car until Kia can get these problems resolved. The car is not the most reliable at times.

  • Great Car Except..the minor NON DEPLOYING AIR BAGS - 2011 Kia Sorento

I love this car. Seriously I do. Which is why I am sickened about the safety issue I have learned about with Kias air bags. I read several reviews on here before I purchased it and am disappointed none where about the air bags. My air bag light came on suddenly. Vehicle was not involved in any sort of accident. Took it in and bottom line I had to have an entire new driver side air bag and assembly replaced. When I question how the heck an air bag needs to be replaced with out being in an accident or tampered with Dealer says, "It just happens, the air bag is defective." Well I wasnt going to drive around in a vehicle whos driver side air bag was not functioning. So I coughed up $1300 to get it fixed. Figured Id go after Kia after the fact. They have told me no, and no again. One of the reps tried telling me this isnt a safety issue. Seriously? Anyways, I will get my money out of them. In the mean time a little internet research reveals several, several stories of people who did not have an air bag light on and where in roll over or other serious collisions and NO air bags deployed. Scary. Wonder if the rest of my air bags will work in a collision...?

  • A Good Value Mid Size SUV - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Had it for almost a month. Was considering getting a luxury SUV, but after reading the Consumer Report which rated the V6 Sorento very highly among the mid size suv, I decided to take a look. I like the styling a lot and the comfort of the base model cloth seating. Mileage rated at 20/26 is pretty accurate and is among the best in V6 SUVs. Extra 3rd role seats are standard. Although with updated DFD shocks, the ride is still pretty firm but the handling is surprisingly good. A very practically all around car for multi purpose. Dealer gave me a very good discount and dealer incentives.

  • Looks Expensive - 2011 Kia Sorento

This is an awesome vehicle. I love it. Was going in for a Sportage and got this. The only thing that I dont like about it is the cup holders in the console, they are two different sizes and just dont fit right. Also when I get it washed, the hatch back collects soap, I have to ask them to lift it up and wipe it out.

  • A winner for the money - 2011 Kia Sorento

Rides and handles well for a medium size SUV. I disagree with those who say the 4 cyl is slow. We have no problems either in town or the mountains although mileage could be better. Lots of standard features for the money. More room than a Subaru Forester and those bring a premium price here in the NE.

  • One year follow up - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

It has been a year,14k miles, since buying the Sorento. The car was amazing up until 6,000 miles and 5 service notifications later. We have had service letters for everything from electrical wiring to replacing every light bulb from bumper to bumper. Granted KIA has been great about fixing everything but a new car should never need a new transmission at 7k miles. Even with the new transmission we still have issues with putting the car into reverse and some random rpm surges while driving. We are also experiencing excessive raddeling in the interior and wearing of plastic components. We are chalking this up to the fact that this was one of the first Sorentos off the line, growing pains.
