  • Love my Renegade! - 2016 Jeep Renegade

We were looking for a sporty SUV to be able to get good gas, have a manual transmission and also fit a car seat for my 6 month old baby. We were torn between the Nissan Rogue and the Jeep Renegade. The jeep has a lot of head-room,so since we are a tall family that was a must! I was adamant on having a manual transmission, since thats all I have ever owned and plus they are just a ton of fun to drive. We went to a car show and the Jeep is what we picked out of all of the vehicles we looked at. The latitude version that we got did not have the cold weather package or navigation, but we did get the sunroof with removable panels! After owning this for a month, I still really love my jeep. It drives like a dream in the snow, it heats up really fast so I really dont find myself regretting not getting the cold weather package; the gas mileage is amazing (I average between 24-26mpg); the manual transmission is smooth and the uphill assist is pretty cool for those hills at stoplights. I am also really loving the sunroof, with the removable panels...this is a must and I use it all the time. I find myself wishing for Navigation, but nothing that my phone cant fix for now and I might end up changing out the system down the road. But the radio is really nice, and the Bluetooth set-up was really simple with my Microsoft phone, and it works great for everything that I need! My complaints: The cup holders. There is only two in the front seat area, and then angled ones in all of the doors that you can only use bottled drinks. The backseat has no cup holder except the door ones for bottles. This seems really inconvenient since sometimes I have more than two people in the car and if we go to Starbucks then only two people can use the cup holder for their drinks. My other complaint would have to be the e-brake. Its just a button...and it kind of weirds me out since its not a lever that I am used to. It hasnt failed or anything bad, its just something different that I need to get used to. The back trunk area is pretty small, but thats what you get with a smaller SUV, I am able to fit a small stroller with no issues in the back. Overall...I just need to find a fix for the cup-holder situation and its perfect. I never thought that I could find a sporty SUV to drive my daughter around instead of a mom SUV, Sedan or Van. *all of the hidden Jeep Easter-eggs are a cool addition too!!!

I was really curious about this vehicle, so I rented one to drive from NC to FL. It was a 2WD 2.4L 9A Latitude trim level. The seats are very supportive, the steering was tight and I thought the vehicle handled very well. The ride was a little choppy for what I consider a car more than a truck. The very first thing I did not like was the automatic transmission. It was constantly changing at speed and almost drove me nuts, felt like the engine was missing or something. Finally, I discovered the way to overcome this was to pull it over to manual mode and shift it yourself. On the first leg of my trip I only averaged 27mpg allowing the vehicle to shift itself. I checked the mpg history on the computer and it read 21.5. Not good. On the way back, I manually shifted it and achieved 32mpg, which I believe exceeds the manufacturer claims. This was averaging about 65mph. So the folks that claim you need a manual transmission may have forgotten the auto has a clutchless manual mode. The 2.4 also has a lower torque curve than the turbo. I had a dealers license for almost 20 yrs as well, and from a resale perspective I would suspect a manual transmission might be very difficult to sell. This is not a Wrangler. I have 3 Jeeps, 2 XJs and a Comanche. They all have the 4.0L six, feel nothing like this car, but Id like to hear what folks have to say about the Trailhawk.

  • A Cherokee and a Mini Cooper walk into a bar... - 2016 Jeep Renegade

First off, my 4WD Renegade has an automatic and the 2.4L engine (the only way 4WD Renegades come), but those werent listed by Edmunds as options for the 75th Anniversary edition for some reason. With that out of the way, Ill keep this concise: I enjoy my ride. No, the Gade isnt very powerful, but I wasnt expecting it to be, and thats something you should know whether or not youre ok with after a test drive. I love the ride height, ride comfort, capability, and style/quirkiness that I got for the price. The two things I dont like have to do with the UConnect/Bluetooth system. Most importantly, when placing and/or receiving calls on Bluetooth, I can hear the other party very clearly, but they can barely hear me. If they can hear me, they tell me there is a profound background noise that goes above and beyond what one customarily expects over a Bluetooth system. Its especially bad at highway speeds. Id strongly recommend any potential buyers to test out the Bluetooth phone system at highway speeds (e.g. 75 mph) before purchase. I didnt, and am now left with a problem that my dealer and Chrysler both seem highly ambivalent about fixing. The other UConnect issue, more minor, is that the system wont let me switch back and forth between USB and Bluetooth as an audio source unless I manually disconnect one of these sources. Ive found a way around this, so it isnt that big of a deal. The horrible call quality, something I was not expecting when I purchased a brand new 2016 automobile, is the major issue. Otherwise, Im happy with the purchase, and find the Jeepster suits me.

I purchased my Jeep Renegade after totaling my Honda Civic, and while we test drove several suvs this one we fell in love with. Its sporty, functional, and for having a kid it works great for us. The dealership we purchased it from was very helpful and gave us a great price on it as well. So far I have only had one issue with the rear back door lock, but the dealership got it taken care of in a timely manner. Overall I love this vehicle and the look of it.

I looked at the Ford Escape and the Nissan Rogue. I test drove Hawk and the Limited. For longer over the road trips I chose the Limited. It has excellent comfort, handles well in rain and snow. 4 wheel drive shifts seamlessly. Eastern Carolina Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge staff were great to deal with out of the three dealers that I dealt with.

  • Cup holders and compartments i need more! - 2016 Jeep Renegade

I love the car. But the placement of the shift and cup holders is awkward. There are no side cup holder and not enough cubbyholes to place items like key cards convenient but hidden. The rear door is heavy needs assistance to open and close.

  • LOVE, LOVE my new 2016 Jeep Trailhawk!! - 2016 Jeep Renegade

Picked up my new Colorado Red, 2 MySky sunroofs, Trailhawk a few days ago and LOVE IT! Typically, Im a Ford lover, e.g. Escape and other models, but I absolutely HATE the way the new small SUVs look like station wagons (in my opinion). I wanted a vehicle that was a small SUV with big functionality, some nice add-ons, and more of the "box" look that my old Ford Escape had. The Trailhawk has multiple off-road options, which I may not use often enough, but wanted the capabilities anyway. I read some other reviews about lack of quick acceleration, and I havent really noticed that problem at all. Although, I dont think I usually try to go 60 MPH within 5 seconds anyway. I love the technologies of UConnect, the ease of use of setting all the controls, the automatic windshield wipers (theyre perfectly timed based on rain!), and strong, sturdy environment that surrounds me. This may sound weird...but I feel like Im in an extremely, well-made, sturdy vehicle that is "stronger" than even my Ford Escape was. That "secure" feeling is very meaningful to me. The only thing that I wish..... that the MySky front option had the ability to open the opaque but leave a transparent window so that I could use the "top down" daylight in the winter months without cold coming in. I also wish the back seats were a little more "comfy" like the front seats but I rarely have people in the back seat anyway. I love the various key-less options, Display options, etc. I also have the blind spot alerts which I LOVE. There are so many things that are perfect, I cant write them all down. I went to Autoland dealer in NJ, and they were less than helpful trying to find my 2016 Red Trailhawk with the options I wanted. Yet, 1 day later, Salerno Duane in NJ found my exact match vehicle in a tri-state dealer and had it to me in 3 days. I used Salerno Duane previously so am thrilled with their willingness to help me. If youre looking for a unique SUV that is solid and well thought out, youll love this new 2016 Renegade line of vehicles!! Debi S - New Jersey

Bought this for daughter who will be on job sites in construction (the VW bug wasnt going to cut it). Best of all worlds for a young kid. Can and will climb the mountains. Can cross the river if needed (patriot and others fail). Trailhawk is only way to go. while she wont (hopefully) be doing the big off-road courses... hmmm i cant wait to do the off-road adventures. You must get with removeable top. Very in jeep mode. and the easter eggs are everywhere and deserved. This... is written by an Audi/Mercedes owner who is now seriously hunting real Jeeps.
