Overview & Reviews
The familiar Overland name finds its way into the Jeep Commander lineup for 2007. This range-topping trim level features the 5.7-liter V8 as standard, 18-inch wheels (late availability) and special interior and exterior trim. Other changes this year include the renaming of the base model as the "Sport" and the introduction of some new equipment, including a flex-fuel version of the 4.7-liter V8, a power liftgate and a rearview camera.
- Strong V8 engines, quiet interior, capable in off-road situations, luxury features galore.
- Third-row seat is a kids-only zone, poor fuel economy from V8s, mediocre cargo capacity, spotty reliability.

A Best Buy For My Family - 2007 Jeep Commander
By Josh in LA - December 3 - 4:26 amMy wife and I looked and looked and looked for a SUV that fit us and our 3 kids without the size of a suburban. We absolutely love this jeep. The gas mileage isnt great but it is fun to drive, it seats seven, and its very comfortable. We went with the V6 because there wasnt a need to pull anything, but it still offers plenty of power and get up. I am confident that it could pull a ski boat and 7 passengers with no problems.

Money Pit!! Buy something else!! - 2007 Jeep Commander
By agriffin2 - October 29 - 4:13 amI purchased my jeep at 2 yrs old with 38,000 miles on it. It was already out of warranty(thanks Chrysler). Two weeks after purchasing it, I had to replace my shifter bezel to the tune of $500. It has stranded me 5 different times due to a starter issue. One year later, I had to replace the starter AGAIN! Chrysler has not been very helpful with reimbursing me for my troubles. Each Jeep dealer I take it to tells me that my car is a heap of problems. Each fix with it costs me at least $400. I will be getting rid of it soon and Im extremely disappointed in Chrysler.

Love it but - 2007 Jeep Commander
By LOVE IT BUT - October 27 - 10:53 pmThis is my 2nd Jeep with the first still in the family. My Commander is very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Ive had it for 11 months and the only real problem experienced is with the rear shocks or springs. From the first month, I had the shock replaced, then replaced again, now going back for the 3rd time. The constant squeak is very annoying. Steering wheel has also started whistling - odd? If I can get this resolved, I will be very happy with my Commander.

Best Jeep weve owned - 2007 Jeep Commander
By John - October 13 - 4:56 pmExcellent interior design with a very comfortable ride. It quickly and easily converts from 5 to 7 passenger seating. The 4.7L V8 flex-fuel has plenty of power, and having the flex fuel option can help your pocketbook at the gas station. The only negatives to the vehicle are that the gas mileage drops about 25% (not just a mile or two per gallon but the highway mileage drops from 20 to 15!) and one annoying design flaw is that it is easy to strike the key with your knee which actually turns the vehicle off. On a recent trip I actually did this twice. The jeep is as good off road as any Jeep Ive owned and the Quadratrac II works beautifully.

Leak is a Design Flaw - 2007 Jeep Commander
By Pesmith - June 23 - 4:43 amIf you have a sunroof your Jeep will leak in a rain storm. Here is the problem; the drain tubes are too small to handle the amount of flow in a rain storm. Every sunroof on the market leaks, you cut a hole in a roof and it will leak, but there are drain pans around the edge of the sunroof and 4 drain tubes, but when it rains and rains, the drain tubes cannot handle the amount of flow. The jeep will only flood if you park it outside setting in the rain. Have fun, I sold my Jeep and lost about 6k.

Wonderful Utility Vehicle - 2007 Jeep Commander
By RCowan - May 15 - 7:10 amThe Commander is just an all around great family vehicle. The styling and comfort are wonderful and the kids love the theater style seating and Command View sky lights. The 4.7L has plenty of power and when driven sensibly can average fine fuel economy on the freeway. This is our first Jeep product and we love it so far! I would recommend the Commander without reservation to any family that needs to haul people and stuff on a regular basis. This is my 13th brand new car and I think its my favorite!!

Learning to love your vehicle - 2007 Jeep Commander
By 3sa - November 25 - 5:20 pmI traded my Chrysler Pacifica for the Commander. I loved the way it drove and handled and was looking to only upgrade. Once I drove the Commander it was surprisingly pleasant and I liked the sporty look. People often mistaken my "P" for a van which I hated. What I dont like is the 3rd row seat (for kids or small adults but ok), it blocks visibility when head rests are up, passenger seat sits to low, very hard to see stop light when stopped, rain collects at driver door, need better cup holders in 2nd row, and air vents make noise when opening to defrost. Gas mileage could be better. Thank God I live 5-10 miles from work and my daughters school. I miss the "P" but beginning to love my "C"!

I chose the 5.7L Hemi - 2007 Jeep Commander
By Steelblueone - November 21 - 3:16 pmI bought the Commander as the family shuttle, realizing its limitations in that regard; it is not a mini Van, so in that capacity it is just adequate. It is not just a suburban taxi, it wants to play. It is a 7 seat 4x4 SUV and as that, it stands out as you leave the road and hit the trails. On the roads the Hemis power is effortless and always available. Inside it is very comfortable and my three kids (10, 9, and 6) love the stadium seating and the moonroof. It is quiet inside and the sound system is excellent.

Love it! - 2007 Jeep Commander
By caligirl - October 29 - 2:13 pmI was worried the 3.7L engine would not have enough power but it is adequate. I have 2 children in car seats and an 8yr old and there is plenty of room. We are talking large Britax car seats and I was still able to pack my 3 kids and my friends 2 elementary aged children in the Jeep including her with no problems. I love my Jeep, I wouldnt trade it for any other vehicle out there! The stereo is great for not going with the upgraded system and the rear ac/heater and reverse sensing are wonderful.
