This Year's Model Updates:

The familiar Overland name finds its way into the Jeep Commander lineup for 2007. This range-topping trim level features the 5.7-liter V8 as standard, 18-inch wheels (late availability) and special interior and exterior trim. Other changes this year include the renaming of the base model as the "Sport" and the introduction of some new equipment, including a flex-fuel version of the 4.7-liter V8, a power liftgate and a rearview camera.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, quiet interior, capable in off-road situations, luxury features galore.
Cons:
  • Third-row seat is a kids-only zone, poor fuel economy from V8s, mediocre cargo capacity, spotty reliability.

  • Great used vehicle - 2007 Jeep Commander

After fixing minor issues such as windshield washer, etc. this Jeep was a very comfortable ride, like a luxury SUV, but felt much smaller on the outside.

  • A Best Buy For My Family - 2007 Jeep Commander

My wife and I looked and looked and looked for a SUV that fit us and our 3 kids without the size of a suburban. We absolutely love this jeep. The gas mileage isnt great but it is fun to drive, it seats seven, and its very comfortable. We went with the V6 because there wasnt a need to pull anything, but it still offers plenty of power and get up. I am confident that it could pull a ski boat and 7 passengers with no problems.

I got this thing with 6 miles on it. Last night when I put inside for the night. had 61,000 miles. I have only Changed the oil every 2500 miles. I have 4 Kids . My only prob is the sun roof and rain. Other than that not one prob.

  • Love it but - 2007 Jeep Commander

This is my 2nd Jeep with the first still in the family. My Commander is very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Ive had it for 11 months and the only real problem experienced is with the rear shocks or springs. From the first month, I had the shock replaced, then replaced again, now going back for the 3rd time. The constant squeak is very annoying. Steering wheel has also started whistling - odd? If I can get this resolved, I will be very happy with my Commander.

  • Best Jeep weve owned - 2007 Jeep Commander

Excellent interior design with a very comfortable ride. It quickly and easily converts from 5 to 7 passenger seating. The 4.7L V8 flex-fuel has plenty of power, and having the flex fuel option can help your pocketbook at the gas station. The only negatives to the vehicle are that the gas mileage drops about 25% (not just a mile or two per gallon but the highway mileage drops from 20 to 15!) and one annoying design flaw is that it is easy to strike the key with your knee which actually turns the vehicle off. On a recent trip I actually did this twice. The jeep is as good off road as any Jeep Ive owned and the Quadratrac II works beautifully.

  • Wonderful Utility Vehicle - 2007 Jeep Commander

The Commander is just an all around great family vehicle. The styling and comfort are wonderful and the kids love the theater style seating and Command View sky lights. The 4.7L has plenty of power and when driven sensibly can average fine fuel economy on the freeway. This is our first Jeep product and we love it so far! I would recommend the Commander without reservation to any family that needs to haul people and stuff on a regular basis. This is my 13th brand new car and I think its my favorite!!

  • I chose the 5.7L Hemi - 2007 Jeep Commander

I bought the Commander as the family shuttle, realizing its limitations in that regard; it is not a mini Van, so in that capacity it is just adequate. It is not just a suburban taxi, it wants to play. It is a 7 seat 4x4 SUV and as that, it stands out as you leave the road and hit the trails. On the roads the Hemis power is effortless and always available. Inside it is very comfortable and my three kids (10, 9, and 6) love the stadium seating and the moonroof. It is quiet inside and the sound system is excellent.

Great new SUV. The 3.7 is a perfect choice and the 4.7 doesnt seem to perform any better. A lot of options with the Rocky Mountain package.

  • A great jeep, and its got a Hemi! - 2007 Jeep Commander

Commander Overland has everything I need, I tows 7500 lbs, it fun to drive and fits everywhere. Smooth and comfortable ride. I make 400 mile trips to Maine from NJ on a regular basis. I even have the stock goodyear forteras up to 46,000 miles so far. 3rd row seats fold flat into the floor. I carry two black labs back there with their own A/C vents when the seats are down. I tow a 24 4500 lb jet boat and a 20 3000 lb snowmobile trailer in heavy snow along mountain passes with complete confidence.

I love this vehicle - it has been great in the snow and 4 wheeling. I do wish that it came with beefier tires, so I am putting a small lift and better tires on it. I see a lot of people have reported leaking problems. Yes - it did in mine too - but that was fixed with beads of silicone along the door frame. Jeep has instructions on their site on how to fix this. We did and we have had no problems since then. I love this ride and am completely content with it. I average about 15 Town/22 HWY.
