Overview & Reviews
This year there are only minor changes to the X-Type. The smaller 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 3.0-liter V6 as the only engine available. Jaguar has also made the five-speed automatic transmission standard equipment and discontinued the manual gearbox option. Remaining changes are purely cosmetic, such as a new chrome-mesh grille and updated wheel designs. Bluetooth wireless connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio are new options this year.
- Comfortable highway ride, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk, classic Jaguar styling.
- Soft handling, not enough low-end torque, downmarket cabin materials detract from luxury ambience, tight rear-seat entry, no manual transmission available.

Love my Jag - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By Armando - March 20 - 4:50 pmHandling on winding costal roads on Highway 1 was excellent. The automatic transmission shifted up/down perfectly with a good solid feel for the road. The brakes never faded or grabed. A very comfortable and relaxing ride in town on the free way or on winding twisting roads. Plenty of power from the quiet smooth 6cyl engine.

Move over BMW, Audi - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By elsaidst - July 14 - 9:03 pmJag got it right, no matter what reviews say. This car is a gem. More spacious than its competition, as powerful and certainly more luxurious. Add to that reliabilty. Driving it is a pleasure, certaily a cruiser for long hauls. On winding roads it tends to float but is forgiving when pushed hard. A head turner it is at ease in traffic.

A cat with bigger claws - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By Oldengineer - January 17 - 8:40 pmJust replaced my 03 X Type 2.5 with an 06 3 Liter X. The new cat has far better acceleration and handling. As part of the sunroof package, you get 17 inch wheels and wider tires. I also noticed that Jag has made a number of subtle improvements since 03 - brakes are better with no dust problem; the center consol is higher quality; a second cupholder has been added; the seats have been improved. Another plus is the availability of Jags extended warranty for a reasonable price. I opted for the 7 year -100K because this cars a keeper.
