This Year's Model Updates:

This year there are only minor changes to the X-Type. The smaller 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 3.0-liter V6 as the only engine available. Jaguar has also made the five-speed automatic transmission standard equipment and discontinued the manual gearbox option. Remaining changes are purely cosmetic, such as a new chrome-mesh grille and updated wheel designs. Bluetooth wireless connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio are new options this year.

Pros:
  • Comfortable highway ride, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk, classic Jaguar styling.
Cons:
  • Soft handling, not enough low-end torque, downmarket cabin materials detract from luxury ambience, tight rear-seat entry, no manual transmission available.

  • Jaguar x-type wagon - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
    By -

This is my third Jaguar; an S-type and an XJ8 preceded the wagon. My husband was concerned about this car being too small...we were off on a road trip to AZ and New Mex. and had everything from golf clubs to a loom for weaving to a large painting plus all of our bags etc....it all fit like a perfect puzzle. Mileage was great and it drives like a little sportscar..... GREAT FUN !!! Didnt fare too well with a collision with a deer (I stopped; she didnt) but that was fixable. We LOVE this car. Thanks for building it.

  • My Second X-Type - Amazing Car! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

This vehicle is vastly underrated. I was determined to find a "different" luxury car this time around, but no other could compare in style and performance. If you remember the X-Type commercial where the snow plow follows in the Jaguars tracks, I can sincerely guarantee that this is the handling this car delivers. I am even more impressed with my new VDP Edition. The exterior styling turns heads and the interior is simply beautiful. A recent visit to the car wash reinforced the image of this car - even among the other top luxury cars, this car truly shines the brightest.

  • Pleased... Indeed! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

First Jag ever purchased and I am very satisfied and pleased with its performance. Takes off at the drop of a dime and leaves everything behind it in its dust! Handles a curve in wet or dry conditions superbly. Comfortably seats my family of four including my 6 foot husband. Interior is butter soft and so classy and elegant holds true to JAG reputation. Interior works well with Liquid Silver exterior and mesh grill...heads turn when we drive by for a second look. Love the Sports car feel in a Luxury Sedan! Im truly PLEASED INDEED with this vehicle and strongly considering buying the XJ or XJ8 for my husband.

  • Poor Quality Parts and Finishes - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
    By -

Major disappointment! At under 30,000 miles and after having kept it in perfect condition, the interior began to literally fall apart! And what did Jaguar senior maintenance manager have to say? She hung up on me when I demanded to know who her boss was since she didnt want to take my complaints seriously. All told - $1800 to get it fixed! Never buy another Jaguar again! Cant wait to unload this one!

  • A good decision - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Ive owned Mercedes & Lexus. The Jaguar is the best yet and they are not as common as the others. The AWD Jag performs on ice and snow just as good as the AWD Lexus. To date, Im very pleased and believe I made the right choice.

  • A Great Feeling About Owning a Jag! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
    By -

This is my 1st Jag and I must admit that this is a great driving auto and fun car to drive. I drove many other competetive autos prior to selecting the Jaguar, but this one really drove and handled the best. Ive owned many new cars, such as C230 Mercedes, Acura RL, numerous Honda Accords and a few Cadillacs, but this is, by far, the best car yet. I love to drive it and I also love the head turns I get from this vehicle. Keep up the good work Jaguar and you will have a customer for a long time.

I recently had the opportunity to take a 2,000 mile journey in this vehicle and was amazed at how well it performs and the way power is delivered from its sweet purring 3.0 liter V-6. This is my first "Jag" and even though the fuel economy is not great, the way it rides and peoples reaction to the name and car design more than makes up for its deficiency. The all wheel drive and brake feel are reassuring in inclement weather and the ivory interior is pleasing to the eye, elegant as in british sophistication. If you are looking for head turning reactions and pride of ownership in this price range go for the Jaguar X-Type.

  • Love my X-Type 3.0 - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

This is my first Jaguar. Was a bit concerned about reliability, but really loved the look and feel of this car. I decided to buy it, as it has a good warranty. Just got back on a 1800 mile road trip from Oregon to Montana. Got 26 MPG! Great road car. Fun to drive. Have almost 9000 total miles on the car, with NO problems or issues. The all wheel drive is great. The car is quiet and handles very well. Build quality is great. The dealership made buying a Jag the best experience I have ever had.

  • Most well kept secret - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
    By -

A beautiful, understated, elegant and powerful vehicle. AWD is a huge plus for me and I am surprised how well this car is built and drives like butter. The feel of it while driving is incredible. I have ridden in and driven BMW, Mercedes and other luxury cars, Jaguar X-type is the most humble (in a good way) and solid luxury car. I would buy another X-type in a heart beat. Test drive one and you wont be disappointed. The body construction is both light and feels strong. I love it.

  • What could enhance my Jag Appreciation - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
    By -

I formerly owned an S-Type but drove an X-type as a loaner. Because I needed the security of a bad-weather performer (all-wheel or front wheel drive) I "scaled down" on amenities. I miss automatic seat adjustment, interior space, softer ride but really enjoy the confidence and handling of my VDL. What keeps me from shopping other cars with amenities AND AWD or front wheel is the excellent service and performance with my particular local dealer. If the S-type had better bad weather driving capability, I would return to that vehicle. Or, if the X-type could upgrade, Id be a happy, contented driver.
