Overview & Reviews
For 2004, Jaguar has reduced the base price of the X-Type 3.0 by almost $3,000. In other news, the Sport Package now includes 18-inch wheels and a 320-watt sound system. All X-Types get redesigned alloy wheels, as well as a revised front bumper and new foglights. The trunk lid has been reshaped and the push-button release for the trunk is now easier to operate.
- Comfortable highway ride, attractive styling inside and out, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk.

Great Cat - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Frank K - June 17 - 12:53 amGreat value. I know this is a Ford based car, but the value is great. The ride is firm and yet comfortable. Huge trunk. No issues, recalls and free maintenance!!

it needs a little work - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By billgerry - May 18 - 12:30 pmThe X is a truly fabulous car to drive. It handles curves like a champ, and at 120 mph, it still has power to spare. It was annoying to have the transmission replaced at 20k - with 5 others in the shop ahead of mine. Cheap plastic items, like gas cap covers break easily, and a number of electronic problems, like sunroof controls, keep cropping up, requiring the inconvenience of shop visits.

Pleasant Driving - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Matshum - January 2 - 10:00 amI found the Jaguar X 3.0 to be comfortable, fast, and easy to drive. Exceptional power and I like the all wheel drive.

A fine car - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By aperez301 - November 12 - 2:00 amThe X-type 3.0 has been a pleasure to drive. Although we have not had the car long enough to experience any maintinence intervals however the dealership experience blew us away. The car has good power although acceleration is hampered by the AWD. Downshifts under full throttle could be quicker but this is a "touring car" isnt it? The interier is fabulous. It looks and feels richer than any of the other cars we considered (Mercedes, BMW, Saab, Volvo, Infiniti). This car is well worth a serious look.

Jags are still the coolest looking cars - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By The Chirag - May 14 - 10:00 amI have a racing green Jag X type 3.0. You can really feel the road with it. As with all smaller, sportier cars, you will feel every bump in the road. But its handling performance on the highway and around turns is great. Im sure the "luxury" cars (which I think are only suitable for people who look and feel old) are smoother riding, but nothing looks cooler than a Jag!

Nice car for the price - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By SouthCarolinaGuy - June 30 - 3:20 amIve leased this car for the past 39 months. I love the styling, smooth ride. The AWD just hugs the road. Turning, parking, etc. all great. I feel safe driving this car. Great visibility all around. I have not been pleased with the workmanship. My dash vents have popped up, the cloth covering on the roof support along the windsheld is wrinkling, the lighted mirror on the passenger visor wont stay up - flops down when opened. The covering for the driver-side rear view mirror disappeared - assume it just fell off. The oil pan gasket had a leak that was repaired under warranty. Back seat is tight, but I rarely have passengers there.

Base is the Case - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By MK6331 - January 12 - 10:00 amI just had this car in for its 30k service and have not had 1 problem since I took delivery. I did not choose the sport ed. because the seats were just not comfortable. The shift between 1st and 2nd is a bit notchy but after driving it for awhile, Ive learned to rev the engine to about 4k rpm before shifting and it seems much better. Yes, it could use a little more horsepower but its still a spirited performer and absolutely stable in bad weather. At this point, once the lease is up, Im planning to buy it.

Great Car! - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Nick - January 5 - 8:03 amI have done a lot of review prior to purchasing this car. I have had a few in my day and this is by far the best car I have ever had. Runs great and the handling is by far superior to anything I have driven. The only thing I needed to do was replace the windshield wiper motor which was very very easy to do. Took all of 30 min. Very stylish for the money and fun to drive in any weather! My wife loves it way more then the Volvo S70 she had. Two thumbs up for me!!

Scary at times, but so far, so good. - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By devargo - November 13 - 6:43 amGot this in June 07 with 32k miles. Now have 55k on it, and the only repair has been a worn tie-rod end. I have heard horror stories about Jaguar reliability over the years, but I took the plunge and am glad I did. One thing I never get over is the odd noises that this car makes. Squeals, whines, whistles, bumps, woomps, thumps, etc. For one thing, it appears that every road noise comes inside. For another, wind noise actually makes a whistling around the A pillars. But, overall, I cant complain. 22-24 mpg, good looks, good performance, lots of features, and the cachet of owning a Jag for under $20000. Still keeping my fingers crossed, but so far, glad I bought this car.
