This Year's Model Updates:

This year there are only minor changes to the X-Type. The smaller 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 3.0-liter V6 as the only engine available. Jaguar has also made the five-speed automatic transmission standard equipment and discontinued the manual gearbox option. Remaining changes are purely cosmetic, such as a new chrome-mesh grille and updated wheel designs. Bluetooth wireless connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio are new options this year.

Pros:
  • Comfortable highway ride, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk, classic Jaguar styling.
Cons:
  • Soft handling, not enough low-end torque, downmarket cabin materials detract from luxury ambience, tight rear-seat entry, no manual transmission available.

I hope they dont stop making this car. Overall, remains the best looking car on the road since brought to the market. Period. Will age slowly and gracefully.

This is my first "luxury" car, and can tell you I am very impressed. My family was always the "Volvo" family so that was comparison standard. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and can tell you I will continue to upgrade as my lease expires.

  • Instant classic - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Well this is my first jag, if you are a car person then this is a really cool car. There are better cars out there for sure, not that much better. I purchased the sportwagon version. I wanted utility and sportiness, and it is a rare car for sure. I looked at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Jag. of course. I like the fact that jags not going to be outdated by newer models and it has the classic styling of older jags(hood ornament). I believe it will be a sleeper classic in wagon form only though. It could get better gas mileage but IT is a Jag not a Honda. I think in ten years gas cars as the way we know them wont exist and this will be still a Jaguar not a prius. My 2 cents.

  • An Exceptional Car - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

This car is Jags best keep secret. Its the best trip vehicle Ive ever owned. Its quick, corners well, and is extremely comfortable on trips. Build quality, fit and finish are second to none at its price point. Its standard AWD handles rain, snow, and ice with no drama at all. The car is heavy, and, seems to be built like a tank. The interior has standard leather seats, and the rest seems to be made of very high grade materials. I like the retro style of the exterior, and its a real head turner, This is my second X Type - I upgraded from a 2.5 liter model because I wanted the extra power. Both have been extremely reliable vehicles.

  • Beatiful and fun Car - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Previosuly owned a 2002 XJR and changed to an X-type VDP since moving back North. My comments are as follows: Beautiful and sporty design, elegant yet chipper interior, nice torque and dampered suspension, excellent feel with the AWD. The only problem I have with this car is the cheap plastic used in the center instrument panel and the amount of road noise on rougher roads. This is perhaps attributed to the lower profile tires. Other than that, an excellent car that always turns heads! Evryday and everywhere. I hope they keep making this model forever, improve the interior plastics, and come out with a supercharged version. Grossly under-appreciated vehicle.

We just bought this car and its amazing. The seats are stiff but they are so comfortable. It doesnt really get good gas mileage but its our luxury cruiser. We have been getting about 20.5 in the city. It rides great and drives even better.

The vehicle is a great looking and bears a great name, yet does not drive in that manner. I love the stylish interior and exterior. The reliablity is somewhat of an issue.

It a good looking car with class. The only problem I have had is the paint job. It seems to chip right down to the primer with the littliest bump. I am having this looked into too, as it is obvious a bad paint job, otherwise the car itself is well built and gives the driver the feeling of being in control. I am a previous owner of two Lexuses and have decided to make a change, I am looking for good customer service as well as dependability in a vehicle. I find that to be most important overall.

I love this car. Im 64" 330 lbs guy who is comfortable when driving this car. I have recently went to look at the Jaguar XJ8 and now I will buy it soon. May I warn any potential buyers, people will talk about the jag but would love to be in your seat driving the jag. It is fast and dependable. The gas is great. It cost 27 dollars to fill up tank with 93 octane. That is great. This car is an attention getter. It cost to be the boss. I went to local dealership for oil change and was amazed that you only need an oil change every 1 year or first 10,000 miles. So you save money. At this moment no problems with vehicle. I wish I had a navigation system and this would make this a total package

  • Underappreciated gem of a car! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Came down to this and a 2007 Mercedes C Class 280 4 matric. I picked the X- Type for a more stylish exterior styling and more interior space. The Mercedes had slightly better drivability and slightly better interior build quality. But the overall styling of the X-type and the super low miles (10K on the X Type v. 39K on the C280) won me over. Both cars handled well and the engines seemed very comparable. I really like how smoothly the Jaguar drives and how comfortable the seats are. The interior space is excellent on this. I have absolutely no regrets about my decision. The overall quality on this car seems solid.
