Best car I ever owned - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By Colonel D. - September 23 - 11:02 pmEvery popular magazine and website dissed the Jag wagon when it came out. Boy, were they wrong. I bought mine used, have owned it for eight years, and NEVER had a major maintenance issue with it. Performance is tops, just like the day I got it, and it now has 130k miles. Small and nimble, but with the extra room of a wagon and every extra you can imagine. Sweet ride. Car & Driver called it an "exotic" since less than about 1500 were made between 2004 and 2008. They were right about one thing: its a head-turner and a conversation starter with knowledgeable Jag owners. If Jag still made these, it would be my next car.

My Jag - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By Sancho - August 23 - 7:23 amVehicle was delivered with grossly over-inflated tires (50lbs) ... should be approx 30lbs. Have a standard transmission; am a conservative driver; have yet to get over 22 mpg combined city/highway driving. Car handles great; takes turns smoothly and requires minimur of braking on sharp turns. Excellent on snow and rain. Developed a high-pitched sound; failed to repair correctly on first try; tape recorded sound and the Dealer replaced the DRIVETRAIN... have not heard sound in approx one month since this repair.

Jaguar X-Type 2.5 - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By ARP - August 12 - 3:13 amWhat a great car. Sexy looks and luxury ride with a sporty flair. I have driven in the heavy snow and ice without snow tires and no problems. Getting 25 mpg. Love the interior and quiet ride. Takes the bumps as a quiet one-piece unit. This is a great car for those who want something different. You dont see everyone with a Jag.

ITS IMPROVED - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By Brooks - July 14 - 4:26 amI had been leasing a 2002 X Type. I find the 2005 a much improved car. The transmission is more responsive. The car handles better, has memory seats and mirrors. A great sound system is even better. Before leasing this car I test drove an Acura RL and a BMW 330i. I found the ride and performance of the Jag to be more satisfying In 2 months of driving there have been no defects.

Good value but has drawbacks - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By S. Chapman - July 8 - 9:46 amBought this car as it had excellent value for resale and was AWD - others tested were the Audi A4 & Volvo S60 - the Jag just seemed like a better value for $$$ - the 3L V6 engine delivers smooth cruising power but has enough pickup punch to pass slower trucks/traffic on the highway. The AWD is great in poor weather and snow (make sure you check to see if its equipped with Traction control - mine was not and feels somewhat like a RWD car in heavy snow - light tail end). Also the name brand: Jaguar - it has a lengthy pedigree and the car is not very common on the road - unlike other executive BMWs & Audis - which seem to be everywhere.

Best Kept Secret - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By J Smythe - May 13 - 7:56 pmThis vehicle has been outstanding since I purchased it. 2.5L w/manual transmission is the way to go--good performance and good gas mileage. Clutch is not quite Porsche, but only one step below. The X Type does every thing well and, with the AWD, there is no need for my 4WD Pick Up here in the Wash. DC area. Looks great--most people think I paid way more for it than I did.

I love this car - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By John - April 3 - 6:26 amThis is my first Jag and I love it. It handles wonderfully, has lots of power, and has presented no mechanical problems whatsoever. The sound system is superb. Its great in the snow and cuts through large drifts without problems. Overall I would definitely lease this car again.

Style and Class - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By ddaniels - February 19 - 6:53 pmI love my new X-Type. The car is absolutely beautiful to look at inside and out and a joy to drive. The build quality is excellent. Jaguar doesnt make extensive changes to their vehicles from year to year but simply improves the model, learning from the past. Its AWD system results in a vehicle that exhibites excellent handling on any road condition. The engine is deceptively powerfull. It is not the quickest from a dead stop (drag racing!), but has excellent pull from 30-100 mph, which is where most of my driving occurs. But if you want of pocket rocket you shouldnt be looking at a Jaguar and should consider a Dodge SRT-4 or maybe a BMW 330.

True sports sedan - 2005 Jaguar X-Type
By fasteddiefromLI - December 21 - 12:16 amHandles nearly as well as the Infinity G35, but better looking and a more luxury looking interior. Not as many luxury and comfort features as the Acura TL but much, much more fun to drive. Better handling and better all around than the new Maxima. A very good sports sedan for the money.
