Overview & Reviews
For 2004, Jaguar has reduced the base price of the X-Type 3.0 by almost $3,000. In other news, the Sport Package now includes 18-inch wheels and a 320-watt sound system. All X-Types get redesigned alloy wheels, as well as a revised front bumper and new foglights. The trunk lid has been reshaped and the push-button release for the trunk is now easier to operate.
- Comfortable highway ride, attractive styling inside and out, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk.

Extremely stable - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By jkw - June 23 - 2:00 amI wanted an AWD car because my old rear- wheel-drive Lexus always skidded in unplowed snow. I ordered the optional Dynamic Stability Control System, and I couldnt be happier. The car handles beautifully. It is extremely stable and "under control", especially at high speeds. A pleasure to drive, especially with the Sport Pkg.

Love my Jag, Practical and Beautiful - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Jill Leone - March 30 - 2:00 amFirst time Jaguar owner, love the ride, the inside room for passengers including the back seat, love the trunk space for my golf clubs and rollaway cart with room to spare and could still put the seats down for more, love the style, everybody still looks at it when you ride by, only have 1300 miles on it, but so far the mechanical performance has been perfect, and, it is super fun and easy to drive, reat rear views everywhere (former Audi owner), just love it!!!

the little luxo barge - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By carlsnewjag - March 30 - 2:00 amI just purchased a new X-type and it is just wonderful. I love the exterior, especially the front. The interior looks like a small Bently. I would recomend this car to everyone

B=Very Satisfied - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By First Jag, Not Last - March 18 - 10:00 amHandling is very good. Fuel economy on highway 27+ MPG. Like the way it drives and looks. Trunk space allows for trip travel with 4 occupants and golf clubs for 2. First Jag and not likely the last.

Save yourself the trouble - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By wrf - March 13 - 10:00 amI have owned two X-types, and had problems with both (the only reason I got the 2nd is because Jaguar and the dealer bought me out of the 1st). Ive had a litany of challenges with this car, such as: transmission breakdown in the 1st week of ownership, a acceleration hesitation in cold weather, fuel door malfunctions (couldnt get it open), lock malfunctions (including being both locked out and locked IN the car), navigation system malfunctions and computer malfunctions. Beyond that, the car spent 10 weeks(!) in the body shop to repair minor cosmetic damage due to backordered parts. The dealer and Jag blamed each other while I drove a Ford

Bitter sweet - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By eye candy - March 1 - 3:20 pmUnfortunately I have fallen in love with this car! It is a beauty to look at and I get lots of compliments. Always asked do I want to sell it. However, I am always nervous. The reliability is a big question mark. It has been repaired twice since purchase (9 months ago) and the check engine light is on as I type. Im afraid I will have to part with her, if I have any more problems.

3.0 Bigger is Better - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Bernard Ellenson - February 4 - 10:00 amDo not buy or lease this car with the 2.5 engine.It does give very good gas milage but it lacks power and responsiveness.Obviously the modified DCHC block from Ford has been set up to please English drivers who want gas milage over performance while USA drivers prefer the performance.Whenever you down shift to accelerate the car sort of thinks it all through and then decideds to respond-causing some anxious momments in traffic. Through sources besides the DCHC block modifications the car has a "cheap" transmission from either Germany or Japan that has already been recalled.
