Overview & Reviews
This year there are only minor changes to the X-Type. The smaller 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 3.0-liter V6 as the only engine available. Jaguar has also made the five-speed automatic transmission standard equipment and discontinued the manual gearbox option. Remaining changes are purely cosmetic, such as a new chrome-mesh grille and updated wheel designs. Bluetooth wireless connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio are new options this year.
- Comfortable highway ride, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk, classic Jaguar styling.
- Soft handling, not enough low-end torque, downmarket cabin materials detract from luxury ambience, tight rear-seat entry, no manual transmission available.

Jaguar X-type - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By Frank Swit - October 12 - 10:46 amWe are very pleased with our X-type. We bought it for the styling, the all wheel drive and the over all "size" of the vehicle. We have not been disappointed.

Love the Car - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By jcwstep11 - September 16 - 9:26 amThank you Jaguar. We traded in a Mercedes Benz for the new wagon. It is soooo much fun to drive and a real sport wagon. Both my wife and I enjoy driving the car. The new design really caught our eye and had to have one. We get lots of comments on the street about it and lots and lots of looks and smiles Again Thank you Jaguar

Love the Leaper! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By Kevin Kiper - April 8 - 10:16 pmUnbelievable car. Found it new at the dealer. Its been even better than I expected. Makes even driving around the block fun. And, the car is a total head turner. Very distinctive when compared to all the BMWs, Mercedes and Lexi on the road. I get tons of compliments on the car.

No Other Car Like It - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By George - January 5 - 4:40 pmThis car has no equal. Drive one for a while and youll see what I mean. Power is adequate, handling on wet roads is simply unbelievable. Ive had 3 BMWs and the X-Type easily, very easily, and Ill say effortlessly, could run off and leave them on a winding road--wet or dry. On the straight interstate above 115 mph handling is about the same as the BMWs Ive had, maybe a little better but nothing outstanding. Interior is nice with the VDP package. Interior doors handles are hard to pull to open the door and that is common to all X-Types. Bad design using a cable. Have to remove a lot of stuff to change plugs on the rear cylinder bank. BMW is a lot easier.

Hesitant at first - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By sdettra - November 13 - 12:51 amI had always wanted a Jag but had heard bad things about them. So after 2 months of looking at reviews, researching the model and even pricing out parts for the repairs that were sure to follow I took the leap. Bottom line is I am very glad I did. Great car and with over 90,000 miles I have replaced a front wheel bearing for $28.00. Great ride Great styling and slightly above average performance.

New 06 Jag - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By LJ - May 29 - 5:43 pmTraded in a 2002 Sport 2.5 for loaded 3.0. The build quality is quite a bit better than the 02. It has a very a beautiful Zircon metallic paint with a chrome mesh grill that turns heads wherever we go. Looks like a much more expensive car than it is. Its a powerful car coupled with a dynamic AWD.

FUN to drive! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By Roger Henslee - February 25 - 1:46 pmBefore I bought this car, I had heard some negative things about Jaguar quality. After test driving the car, I fell in love with it. I opted for the 3 L upgraded engine which has something like 250hp, and is very quick in this size car. The handling is super, braking great and stylish inside. This car is very nice for the price! Negatives are the seat belt buckles which are plastic.. This car has had no problems at all ad seems a perfect mix of styling, perfomance and price. Another good thing is it is owned by Ford and made in Britian(I dont want to buy anything from the Germans since their lack of support for the USA)

X type, XJ looks at a K- Mart price - 2006 Jaguar X-Type
By thebobs - November 17 - 11:40 amA great road eating machine. Why the bad reviews? The car transforms from a blvd. cruiser for my wife to a true sports sedan with a touch of the "S" button and the help of VVT for me. The AWD is great in both wet and dry conditions. I drove the car 226 miles in heavey rain, wind and fog. The AWD made the trip fell like it was a sunny day.The rear fog lights that are three time brighter then regular tail lights made me fell safer since I could be seen at a greater distance Very comfortable on long trips.I have had no problems since day one, everything was perfect. The large 4 weel dual piston disk brakes with ABS stop the car on a dime. Real wood in the cabin. Great leather seats. Love the car
