This Year's Model Updates:

This year there are only minor changes to the X-Type. The smaller 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 3.0-liter V6 as the only engine available. Jaguar has also made the five-speed automatic transmission standard equipment and discontinued the manual gearbox option. Remaining changes are purely cosmetic, such as a new chrome-mesh grille and updated wheel designs. Bluetooth wireless connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio are new options this year.

Pros:
  • Comfortable highway ride, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk, classic Jaguar styling.
Cons:
  • Soft handling, not enough low-end torque, downmarket cabin materials detract from luxury ambience, tight rear-seat entry, no manual transmission available.

  • Not for everyone - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Handles well and is very stylish. Received a lot of compliments from consumers on tha appearance of the car overall. Do not like the 17" low profile tires. Prone to flats if running over obstacles in road. Jags overall ride is hard and you feel and hear every crack and bump in the road. This may be due to the low profile tires but maybe its the car suspension. Gas mileage leaves a lot to be desired. Open road I havent gotten over 25 mph.

The car handles well even in tight corners and with all features included in the price of the car compared to its competitors it becomes the best value for money in its class. Very eye catching especially in black. The overall ride is comfortable albeit in the sport package you feel the road more often. Engine is well positioned to provide quick acceleration when needed. The cars interior wood grain enhancements lend a level of elegance while its external mesh grill in the sport package provide fun and flair compared to others on the road. All-round best value for money with great handling and style.

good looking, but a hard ride..problems with air bag sensor, squeaky windows and squeaky emergency brake cable. took 4 trips to service, and finally fixed all issues.

When I pulled out of showroom and got this car on the expressway, I never realized a driving experience quite like this. Wow. Now I know why I always wanted to own one. This is no Caddy or Lincoln.

  • $350 hood emblem! - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Not once but twice Ive had the hood emblem stolen. Ill never own another Jaguar because of this. They could at least have mounted it differently instead of putting a spring inside. Its such a shame because this car is really a dream car. Luxurious and sporty and affordable but youll need the savings to replace your emblem every few months.

  • Instant classic - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

Well this is my first jag, if you are a car person then this is a really cool car. There are better cars out there for sure, not that much better. I purchased the sportwagon version. I wanted utility and sportiness, and it is a rare car for sure. I looked at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Jag. of course. I like the fact that jags not going to be outdated by newer models and it has the classic styling of older jags(hood ornament). I believe it will be a sleeper classic in wagon form only though. It could get better gas mileage but IT is a Jag not a Honda. I think in ten years gas cars as the way we know them wont exist and this will be still a Jaguar not a prius. My 2 cents.

  • What could enhance my Jag Appreciation - 2006 Jaguar X-Type

I formerly owned an S-Type but drove an X-type as a loaner. Because I needed the security of a bad-weather performer (all-wheel or front wheel drive) I "scaled down" on amenities. I miss automatic seat adjustment, interior space, softer ride but really enjoy the confidence and handling of my VDL. What keeps me from shopping other cars with amenities AND AWD or front wheel is the excellent service and performance with my particular local dealer. If the S-type had better bad weather driving capability, I would return to that vehicle. Or, if the X-type could upgrade, Id be a happy, contented driver.
